Progress Pride Flag Quilt

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

My Month of Softies Submission

May 16, 2005

I was getting all sad because at first it appeared that my monster wasn’t going to get posted in Loobylu’s Month of Softies, but I guess she had some quirks to work out, and now it’s up! So check him (her?) out here (look for Abby Glassenberg). I am thinking of making it a tutuRead More →

Cupcake mania!

May 16, 2005

I can’t wait until Roxy is in school and her birthday comes around. We’ll have to make cupcakes for the whole class. Oh no! Here are some really cute ones: For the spring birthday (her birthday is the Ides of March). Again, the spring thing. Oh my gosh – this moster is seriously cute. AndRead More →

I’m obsessed with fabric origami and I have been for a long time

May 15, 2005

I first found this site when I was working at my desk job at a non-profit (about five years ago). I ordered the fabric stiffener and tried it once or twice, but I either wasn’t using the right fabric or ran out of patience. I love origami and I’ve been making little origami figures sinceRead More →

A Saturday Afternoon Frog

May 14, 2005

Charlie took Roxy to music class this morning which meant that I had two hours on my own. I was able to go to Anthropologie and get some nice new tops for the summer and, of course, pop into Joann’s for some wool felt and some sale calicos. I’ve never worked with wool felt beforeRead More →

That’s Not a Bunny, That’s a Girl Dressed Like a Bunny

May 13, 2005

Here is Shoshanna. She is like her sisters, Sarah and Sonya, but different in one important way – she has ears. Bunny ears. Also, I made her some shoes. I like the little purple flower buttons on her shoes. Lucky girl. When I was outside taking her photo, I suddenly realized that perhaps I likeRead More →

Sonya and Sarah

May 12, 2005

Roxy took the longest morning nap ever! She slept from 9:00-11:00 and, though I was sure she would sleep a scant half hour this afternoon, she went down at 1:30 and is still sleeping! She must be going through a growth spurt. It is amazing that a person could sleep from 6:15 pm to 6:30Read More →

Napkin Girl

May 11, 2005

Today I made a little doll from two cloth napkins. Her body is one of our white cloth napkins that we got for our wedding. It had a hole and a fray in it so it had to go in the scrap pile. I loved working with it, though, because it is this really thickRead More →

Owl Revisited

May 10, 2005

I decided last night to try applying a technique I learned while making the penguin to my owl pattern. The penguin pattern has you create the appendages and stuff them and then tuck them inside the body, sewing around them before turning the whole thing inside out. What happens in the end is that theRead More →

I’m a little penguin

May 9, 2005

Well, I’ve finished my first creation from a Japanese craft book. Considering that the directions were all in Japanese, I think he has turned out okay. Roxy is really obsessed with “guins” so I chose the penguin to make first. I find that I learn a lot each time I make something new. I likeRead More →

Vintage Plush House Toy

May 8, 2005

We were away this weekend staying with Roxy’s Grammy J and Grandpa in Connecticut and attending her twin cousins’ 1st birthday party in New York. While in CT, Charlie’s aunt Fuzzy gave me the grand tour of her house. And quite a house it is – exhibiting a lifetime of collections all out on display.Read More →
