We were away this weekend staying with Roxy’s Grammy J and Grandpa in Connecticut and attending her twin cousins’ 1st birthday party in New York. While in CT, Charlie’s aunt Fuzzy gave me the grand tour of her house. And quite a house it is – exhibiting a lifetime of collections all out on display. This is a woman who saved everything, and takes great joy in looking at and thinking about all of her “things.”
She gave Roxy this incredible plush doll house that once belonged to her own children forty years ago. It is made of cotton cloth and thin sheets of foam. The roof unbuttons, and the sides of the house unzip, revealing a fully decorated living room, including a movable sofa, Then, the interior lifts up and the layer below is a picnic scene. This is an awesome toy. It has lots of creative potential and clearly is very well made. It gets me thinking – I could make one of those. Hmmm….
Unfortunately, while we were at Grammy J’s house, Roxy fell and bumped her forehead on the hearth. It was just awful. I burst into tears and now she has a big red mark and a bruise on her pretty little head. I guess this kind of thing happens when you have a mobile baby, but since ours never really crawled, I’m just getting used to this at 13 months.

Wow, what a gorgeous dollhouse! I would totally have loved to play with something like this in my younger years.
I just found your blog and I think it’s absolutely wonderful. There’s so much practical, useful content!
I wanted to point out one thing – the pictures in this post didn’t load properly for me. I’m not sure if it’s something on my end or not. Instead of the photos of the dollhouse, an image of a broken image appears, along with what appears to be the name that the camera assigned to the photo (i.e: Dscn0679). If I click on this, though, I’m taken to a link of the photo where I can view it. Maybe it’s an error on the part of Typepad? Regardless, I figured I’d point it out for you.
Thanks again for sharing so much great information on your wonderful blog.

Hi Liana,
Thank you for your comment. This post is 11 years old and migrated to my current blog from Typepad. I’m sorry the images aren’t showing up properly. It’s showing its age!
