Progress Pride Flag Quilt

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

the first photo

August 16, 2006

As is so often the case, the first photo I took of this guy was the best. Does anyone else find that to be true? I usually take about a dozen photos of a toy and choose among them to post here and more often than not, the very first one is the best one.Read More →

revisiting an old owl pattern

August 15, 2006

Every time I make a new soft toy I make a pattern and cut it out of freezer paper and put it in an envelope. I have a big bursting file of patterns now and every now and then I like to go through them and take out older ones and try making them again.Read More →

patience

August 14, 2006

Anyone who knows me knows that I am very patient with people. I was a sixth grade teacher after all. Even when I’m annoyed or angry I can keep my cool and not raise my voice and I can wait as long as it takes for people to accomplish a task I’ve set before them.Read More →

cube zoo pig

August 11, 2006

After I made this elephant it was sitting on our bed and when Roxanne caught a glimpse of it she said, “It’s a piggy!” I asked, “Could it maybe be an elephant?” and she said no, it was certainly a piggy. Hmmph. Made me think of this quote from Good Design in Soft Toys (RudiRead More →

I am working on a few new cube zoo designs for Morphe II. I had put the cube zoo down for a little while because I knew I needed to think about it and come back fresh. And I’m so happy I came back. Here is the first cube zoo bear. from the side andRead More →

weekend activities

August 6, 2006

We had a nice weekend over here. Great weather and so productive. The main activity was getting the big girl bed set up which meant disassembling the crib and reassembling it in Simon’s room. This process was very frustrating and more time consuming than we would have liked. The crib suffered a few dings andRead More →

August 3, 2006

Today is my birthday. Charlie, Roxanne and Simon gave me a lovely chunky chain-link bracelet this morning, perfect for pairing with my watch. I like chunky jewelry. Our babysitter is coming at 5:45 and Charlie and I are going out to my favorite restaurant in Cambridge for a nice dinner. Having a summer birthday meansRead More →

Any of you who know Roxy know that she is fairly obsessed with a few things. Among these are the following: -ice cream cones -fish -Sammy the Spider from Sammy Spider’s First Shabbat (not a quality piece of literature, I must say, but for the past six months or so Roxanne has taken on theRead More →

sweater bear in orange

August 1, 2006

I’m starting to use some of the wool I dyed. I thought this orange looked nice paired with the cream and burnt orange sherpa fleece. I think this sweater bear has a happier expression than some of the earlier ones. Lots of babies being born and baby gifts to be made. I’m trying to balanceRead More →
