Progress Pride Flag Quilt

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

small tree doll without branches

September 12, 2006

I thought this brown fabric really suggested bark. It is a actually a large 70’s era print of animals that Mimi gave me last time she was here, but cut up on a small scale it is rather bark-like. The face on this doll is appliqued on in the Mimi way and I rather likeRead More →

first day

September 11, 2006

Today was Roxanne’s first day of nursery school. It was wonderful. The class met for one hour with the moms. She romped from activity to activity in a firefighter suit and hat – first playdough, then markers, then play kitchen, then sand table, then back to playdough. She peed in their potty and she criedRead More →

penguin prototype and general goings on

September 8, 2006

Here is what is going on around here: -Roxanne is totally potty trained and is now reliably pooping in the potty. Recent comments she has made about the look of her poop: “It’s so long!” and “It’s brown. It matches mommy’s shirt!” Ah, poop. -Charlie and I went to the nursery school parent meeting lastRead More →

blonde doll

September 6, 2006

I was finally feeling ready to cut into the lovely tree fabric. I was thinking of a doll like this and came up with this shoe details. She’s alright. Not my most exciting project.

smaller tree doll

September 4, 2006

Her arms/branches have wire inside and are posable. She is about 2/3 the size of the original tree doll and made from muslin and felt. I inserted a dowel wrapped in batting into her neck so that she can stand nice and straight. My favorite part? Sewing on all those little leaves. I love thatRead More →

pink and green and they’re off to Baltimore

September 1, 2006

Roxanne has had such a big summer. She moved into her big girl bed a month ago and is doing great, only getting “lost” in the sheets twice. She stays in there, even though she is entirely capable of getting out. In fact, you might not believe this, but I put her in her bedRead More →

cube zoo fish in yellow

August 30, 2006

One of three for I’m Stuffed, the show in Baltimore at Charm City Art Space. The opening will be September 10. I wish I could go. If you’re in the area please stop by and say hello to my little school of fish! This fish reminds me so much of my childhood bedspread. Exactly theRead More →

beach embroideries

August 29, 2006

There are five in total. These are the first two and they are stuffed and ready to hang…somewhere. Here is a little vacation picture for you – hiking next to the old granite quarry at Halibut Point State Park in Rockport, MA on Cape Ann. During our vacation we had no computer access for aRead More →

cube zoo fish and they’re off to australia

August 27, 2006

We’re back. We had a restful and fun vacation. I will post some pictures later on, but for now here is the final cube zoo creature for Morphe II – a fish. I did some hand quilting on his fins. I found his fin fabric at a thrift store some months ago and I thinkRead More →

work in progress

August 18, 2006

My desk today. The cube zoo fish is underway. Tomorrow afternoon we are leaving for vacation for a week. We haven’t been on a real vacation since February of 2003 so I’m so excited. I’m looking forward to relaxing outdoors with my little girls, spending time looking at tide pools and making sand castles. I’mRead More →
