Progress Pride Flag Quilt

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

dogs

July 31, 2006

Two more dogs from the dog pattern I worked on a while back. This one I did in vintage blue floral fabric. I accidentally sewed his head gusset in upside down so his nose is more rounded than pointed. Kinda like it this way better. And this one is from a brown fat quarter andRead More →

weekend activities

July 30, 2006

Friday night we had a sitter. After dinner at a pub in Waltham we went to two used bookstores on Moody Street. Having the time to browse the shelves of a used bookstore is such a wonderful luxury now. I found this book from the later 70’s translated from German I just love the designRead More →

blue sock monkey

July 27, 2006

My mom and dad are coming in from Maryland today for Simon’s Hebrew baby naming on Saturday. We thought of cancelling it because my mom is sitting shiva for grandma, but she and my dad still wanted to come so we are going ahead with it. It is supposed to rain tomorrow, but perhaps I’llRead More →

Rose

July 25, 2006

My maternal grandmother, Rose B. Mensh, died early on Saturday morning. She was 90 and had a good life. She lived to see three great grandchildren. I knew grandma well – she and grandpa lived nearby when I was growing up. I will miss her. I flew down with Simon Sunday morning to go toRead More →

WIP Friday

My desk as I left it last night after stuffing sock monkeys while watching Project Runway. I rarely watch T.V., but I really like this show. On my desk today: -one stuffed monkey waiting to be hand-sewn together -three sewn and unstuffed monkeys -autumn tree doll in progress I’m loving the Buffalo Batt Superfluff (whatRead More →

clearing off my desk

July 20, 2006

I received the most wonderful package yesterday from Lisa. We did a swap a little while back for one of my kangaroos. Lisa made Simon a mod bird in return. I felt so honored because these lovely creatures are out of production now. And it is just beautiful! Every time I walk past the nurseryRead More →

Sherpa fleece body with wool face and hair. Leaves from felted sweaters and a little felt bluebird.

Weekend Activities

July 17, 2006

On Thursday afternoon, Mimi came over to drop off my half of a wholesale order of buffalo batt superfluff (that means 10 bags for me!). My dream of a polyfill silo out back is nearly a reality now. We had a lovely time looking at Japanese craft books and fabric and buttons. Mimi is reallyRead More →

If you’ve got big hair, sing out (and other doll variations – more and less successful)

July 13, 2006

Okay, I toyed (pardon the expression) with my latest doll pattern and here are the results. While sketching new faces with more awake eyes I accidentally made the hair bigger and I thought that was cool so here is one variation. She is resting on a lovely canvas painted by local artist Brigid McCabe. GivesRead More →

sewing box

July 9, 2006

Sister Thrift was a definite success. As soon as I walked in I saw a big box full of sewing supplies on the floor right in the entryway. Simon and I sat down and sifted through it all – spool after wooden spool of thread, needles of all sizes, two lovely handmade pincushions, pins, aRead More →
