Progress Pride Flag Quilt

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

Dolls #4 and #5

July 7, 2006

Doll #4 and with her friend, Doll #5 I’m going to a new-to-me thrift store tomorrow, Sisters Thrift in Watertown (thanks Kristen!) and it will be 50% off day. Sounds like fun to me. Have a great weekend, everyone.

new old buttons

July 5, 2006

Making these dolls has meant that I’ve used up some of my vintage buttons. You know the ones – those super pretty carved buttons that you hang onto forever and take out just to look at every now and then. This has given me an excuse to bid on some buttons on Ebay. A lovelyRead More →

Craft Work

July 2, 2006

There is a great article by Rob Walker in today’s New York Times magazine about the Indie craft movement. The article mostly centers around the awesome Heidi Kenney of My Paper Crane, but talks generally about things handmade and those (primarily women, many of whom are stay-at-home moms) who make and sell handmade goods fromRead More →

Doll #3

June 30, 2006

I’m really pleased that my work has been selected for the Morphe II soft toy exhibit. I created the Cube Zoo with Morphe in mind and I’m so happy that Carly liked my little lions enough to include them in this fantastic show. Do I get to call myself an artist now? I finished aRead More →

It must be so hard to be 2

June 29, 2006

Roxy and I are taking a little nature class on Thursday mornings called Puddlestompers. It meets at a different local park each week and we experience parts of the natural world together. Last week we learned about sow bugs and today we dissected flowers. Except that WE didn’t do much with the flowers. Instead, weRead More →

pincushions

June 28, 2006

Six in total, made from bits of vintage fabric, linen, woven ribbon and trim and vintage bottons. And guess who finally got his own blog?

doll

June 26, 2006

I finished a new doll today during nap time. Last week I received a bundle of vintage fabric scraps from an ebay auction and they were so inspiring (nothing is better than someone else’s scraps!). A lot of the pieces are fairly small – perfect paired with linen for some pincushions. And some of theRead More →

Four Years

June 23, 2006

Today is our fourth wedding anniversary. Charlie and I met in the summer of 1999. I had just moved to Cambridge to get my master’s degree at Harvard. Charlie had been in the Boston area for a few years already and was regularly leading Friday night services at Harvard Hillel. After spending four years atRead More →

under gussets

June 22, 2006

The new dog pattern is working out really well. It turned out that the head gusset on the first prototype was fine, it was the under gusset that was the problem – it was a bit too wide so he ended up doing the splits. I fixed that and also set a better order inRead More →
