Progress Pride Flag Quilt

August 13, 2022

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

another book to swap

January 12, 2007

Here is today’s book that I’d like to swap:  New Crafts Paper Cutting by Stewart and Sally Walton (Hardcover. Published in 1997). This one is inscribed to me     "For Abby-     A whole new world of creativity to conquer –     love,     Mom Jan Dec. 2002 Seems she forgotRead More →

a snail and a swap

January 10, 2007

There are now three snails in all. I like things in threes.  My mom is a bit of a spendthrift and she has a habit of buying me random things and mailing them to me (she lives in Maryland and I live in Massachusetts).  Every now and then she totally hits it right and whatRead More →

camel

January 7, 2007

I worked on this camel for quite a while and I’m satisfied with her.  She’s nice and tall (about 9") and she has a good heft and she stands really well.  The camel toe helps.  I put a gusset on the top of her head and another one on her hump.  That would be aRead More →

collaged valentines

January 7, 2007

I’ve been  making a lot of collages recently, in between bouts of sewing. I find it is a good way to refresh creativity. It is a different way of thinking, a totally different way of making – no fussy seams, no fiddling with stuffing.  I made this series of five valentines. Each one had twoRead More →

flour sack snail

January 6, 2007

A second simple snail, this one from a flour sack and some denim.  These guys are pretty fun. I was just wandering around the house this week without a purpose because of my camera dysfunction.  Here is how Charlie suggested I handle the situation.  Um, thanks.

it’s fixed (and a new bear)

January 6, 2007

Okay, we finally were able to fix the uploading issue with the camera.  The new cable we ordered from an eBay seller didn’t fix it and I was starting to feel sad blog withdrawal. I need to say a big thank you to the person who commented suggesting that we buy a card reader.  WorkedRead More →

technical difficulties

January 1, 2007

Hi all- I hope you had a good New Year’s eve.  We went out to a lovely restaurant in Somerville with our close friends and had a great meal and drinks like grown-ups.  I did make two New Year’s resolutions this year. The first is to get to know my neighbors more.  We’ve lived hereRead More →

humpty dumpty

December 28, 2006

This is what I’ve been busy with and here is the egg head without his jaunty cap This doll quickly became one of the more complex dolls I’ve made. I wanted him to have bloomers and to be able to sit with his legs bent. Gusseted button jointa seemed to be the best solution.  OnceRead More →

unicorn

December 23, 2006

I finished this unicorn today.  I thought I’d explain a little bit about what inspired me to make her. I don’t have space to keep all of the magazines that I get and I often find that I only really like a few pages or projects from each magazine so a while ago I startedRead More →

mushroom

December 20, 2006

One of Charlie’s colleagues has given me a bunch of her old linens over the last few weeks.  She gave me a set of round cloth napkins embroidered with little strawberries and leaves that I thought might make good mushroom tops.  I have wanted to make a mushroom for my little snail to hide underRead More →
