Progress Pride Flag Quilt

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

punk rock haircut

March 23, 2006

I made a friend for the red head. Here she is basking in the sun on our lawn. It is so lovely out right now. Could it finally be getting warm? I even saw two little purple crocuses blooming in our neighbor’s yard. So you can see her punk rock haircut a bit better. LastRead More →

To cheer me up

March 21, 2006

Thanks to everyone for the nice words yesterday. To lift my spirits a bit I decided to take on a little project just for fun and made this little girl doll. She’s a red head. She’s got one of my favorite buttons in her hair and a bit of my favorite ribbon on her velvetRead More →

Slowing Down

March 20, 2006

I’m slowing down. The baby has dropped and is now lodged rather uncomfortably in my pelvis. I’ve had three bouts of Braxton Hicks contractions, each lasting several hours and bringing me close to tears. The craft room is a mess – there is fabric strewn everywhere and a half-finished alligator sitting on my desk withRead More →

Another Sweater Bear

March 15, 2006

This sweater bear is up in the shop now and hopefully I’ll be able to make a few more soon (I was told last night that I’m supposed to begin sewing the long sides of that darn bumper this week. Ugh). What is up with Roxanne’s short naps this week? It’s killing me! Yesterday IRead More →

Sweater Bears

March 14, 2006

Two sweet bears for my sweet neices, Jordan and Ellis. Made from three of my sister-in-law’s old wool sweaters that I felted in the washing machine. I hope they like them. Yesterday I received two packages in the mail. In the first was the manual to my Bernette 330! Wow. Now I can figure outRead More →

The Birthday Girl

March 13, 2006

The birthday girl had a great time at her party. She handled having lots of family and some friends over very well and I think she really enjoyed being the star of the show. Her only moment of shyness came out out when we all gathered around to sing Happy Birthday – she just hidRead More →

Forceps

March 10, 2006

No, not for birthing the baby. Geez. Ever since I visited Mimi and she told me the she uses tiny forceps and several other pieces of her father’s surgical equipment for turning and stuffing dolls I have been wanting to get my hands on a set of forceps. I saw this site described on SewingRead More →

For my little postmaster

March 9, 2006

She’s turning two! Here is Roxanne in her typical garb – wearing daddy’s necktie (which I altered, mind you, by slicing the back and attaching a velcro closure so she wouldn’t accidentally hang herself!), holding daddy’s lunch bag, and clutching “real daddy” (a vintage 1970’s action figure of a grey-haired daddy in a necktie). TheRead More →

Nesting

March 8, 2006

Now I’m really nesting. Yesterday afternoon Roxanne’s babysitter took her to the playground and the library for an hour and half and I finally finished the two short sides of the bumper! Oh my. I’m so proud. Charlie has now given me official permission to make one soft toy before I am to tackle theRead More →

A less cowardly lion

March 6, 2006

I have been thinking a lot about making primitive dolls. Dolls/animals that use natural materials and that are assembled in an obvious way. I love the look of exposed seams, of visible hand-stitching, of parts of the toy being tied together, even, instead of sewn. After I made Mayweed I knew I wanted to tryRead More →
