Progress Pride Flag Quilt

August 13, 2022

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

Placemats

April 18, 2006

I don’t usually take on craft projects other than making stuffed animals. I always lose interest part way through making a tote bag or an apron or, let’s say for example, a baby bumper, but every now and then I try again. This weekend I thought it might be a good challenge to make aRead More →

Owls

April 14, 2006

Wow. That sort of seemed like a birth story. But alas, here I am still prego at Passover and still one centimeter dilated as of yesterday afternoon. This baby is due a week from tomorrow. I’m getting a bit impatient. In fact, I’m starting to think that maybe she’s waiting for me to finish sewingRead More →

Kangaroo for Lisa

April 10, 2006

Well, I’m still pregnant. 38 weeks 3 days. I figured I might as well get on with it and start some projects that I might not be able to finish because hey, I might just be pregnant forever! This weekend I spent some time on this fuzzy white kangaroo and joey for Lisa. I hadRead More →

Vince and Collage #3

April 6, 2006

I went to the doctor this afternoon and I’m 1 cm dilated so that’s good. I’ll be 38 weeks on Saturday so I’ve already gone longer than I went with Roxy and the baby is definitely going to be bigger than she was so I’m happy. Uncomfortable, but happy. But check this out – babyRead More →

A Deer and Collage #2

April 5, 2006

I made this collage on Monday night. Its dimensions are the same as the first one – 5″ x 5″ – and it is also done on a piece of cardboard. I’ve been saving that magazine picture of the phrenology heads for over a year. It also has a little painting of a bird’s nestRead More →

A collage and a rummage sale

April 3, 2006

Inspired by Lisa’s terrific post about paper ephemera and collage-making on Whip Up, I made this little collage on Saturday afternoon during nap time. It’s 5″x5″ on cardboard. I used all sorts of paper ephemera from my collection, plus some rubber stamping, an original drawing of a little chick, and a curl of birch bark.Read More →

Something Fierce

March 31, 2006

Thanks Whip Up for featuring my Less Cowardly Lion today. Seeing the link there inspired me to finish the second exposed seams softie I had started – this alligator. He reminds me of an alligator sculpture I made in college. I went to Johns Hopkins which, at the time, had very few art classes andRead More →

New Pincushions

March 30, 2006

I walked by this fabric last night on my way to the bathroom (I make rather frequent bathroom stops at this point, as you can imagine), and was finally struck with what to do with it. Make pincushions! I originally found this fabric on ebay many months ago. It is a Michael Miller print calledRead More →

The Garden

March 29, 2006

It’s a beautiful day here. I’m longing to go to the garden center and buy perrenials for my garden. Do I risk it, though? I would need to wait another week and a half or so before putting them in the ground or they might freeze, but by then I might be in labor orRead More →

Comfy

March 27, 2006

I’m feeling so much better this week. I’m not entirely sure why. Whatever bony part of the baby that was pressing down and putting so much pressure on my cervix must have moved now. I can walk around, not fast, but hey I am 9 months pregnant after all, and I just feel better overall.Read More →
