Progress Pride Flag Quilt

August 13, 2022

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

Today was Roxanne’s birthday party.  We did some alphabet crafts involving lots of alphabet stickers, read some alphabet books, had alphabet pasta for lunch and an alphabet cake (those are little alphabet cookies I baked on there) for dessert. Charlie built a lovely centerpiece with the alphabet blocks. It was alphabetastic.  She woke up thisRead More →

elephant (bare essentials)

March 8, 2007

This is a page from a notebook I have in which I paste in images that may inspire soft toys.  I see images that I like all over the place and am forever clipping little things out of the most random magazines and catalogs to put in this book.  Some time ago I put thisRead More →

Hot Air Balloon

March 7, 2007

One of my oldest friends, Julie, emailed me a few months ago saying that she’d like to commission a toy for her daughter, Carly’s, room.  When they moved into their house in Colorado there was a pre-existing hook in the ceiling of Carly’s room and Julie couldn’t find anything she was happy with toRead More →

Toyzzzzzzz

March 6, 2007

Hey!  My show is highlighted in the Boston Globe again today. It is the Shopping Tip of the Day in the Sidekick section.  I really like the headline they came up with – so clever.  And it is nice to see the autumn tree doll in print. She’s a beauty, and still available here.

blue lizard

March 5, 2007

The last piece for Flora at MassHort is done – this blue lizard. I will be dropping the whole crew off, all twelve toys, on Wednesday morning at 11:00.  It feels good to be done with this order. I’m itching to create something new.

three snails

March 4, 2007

Three snails.  One lizard to go and I can drop everything of at Flora and move on to the next project.  I will be making a set of toys for Beehive Co-Op in Atlanta.  Beehive is a very cool store and was featured in the most recent issue of ReadyMade.  I’m also going to startRead More →

soft snail in a real shell

March 3, 2007

Inspired by this I located some seashells and made a little soft snail to go inside.  Now I can’t decide if I love him or if he looks like an elementary school craft project.

third bird for MassHort

March 3, 2007

I bought the blue fabric on this bird’s outer wings at a church rummage sale in Wellesley in the fall. It is actually a cloth napkin and if I’m remembering correctly there was more than one. Why did I only buy one? I think I purposely torture myself.  It has such a bird feathery designRead More →

pictures from the show

March 1, 2007

The show is up!  It took about 4 1/2 hours to put everything in the cases the way I wanted it. Charlie came to help me the last hour and half.  He has a great eye for design.  Above is a one of the big cases that flank the entrance to the children’s room.  ItRead More →

Hooray!

March 1, 2007

Check it out!  I  made the Boston Globe  today. And the front page of our local paper, the Wellesley Townsman. Lots of pictures. The photographer loved the Cube Zoo fish. He was this gruff guy and he just couldn’t get enough of them.  It was so sweet. What a totally fun experience.  We packed everythingRead More →
