pictures from the show

March 1, 2007

Dscn0004_1_3

The show is up!  It took about 4 1/2 hours to put everything in the cases the way I wanted it. Charlie came to help me the last hour and half.  He has a great eye for design.  Above is a one of the big cases that flank the entrance to the children’s room.  It is hard to see, but the birds are in there with their nest and three wooden eggs. And above them are assorted animals.

And this case is opposite that one. It is also huge. And right next to the fish tank where all children like to hang out so I put the storybook vignettes there. Roxanne, Simon and I took a last minute trip to Lowe’s yesterday to get the bricks for Humpty.  One pig is on mini bales of hay, the next has a bundle of sticks and the third is sitting on more bricks.  The wolf is sitting on top of our wooden United Housewrecker’s Box with the cauldron beside him.

And here I am holding the front page of today’s Wellesley Townsman once the show was totally installed.  Whew!  I put a few more pictures of the cases here if you are interested.

Oh, Abby, this is just fantastic! I love that you got great press on this show – you totally deserve it. The cases look fabulous, and the one with the story book characters and their special props is just amazing – so perfect for the library. It’s so nice to see a big body of your work together like this. Now if only I could see your etsy shop – I keep having problems viewing your store. Ugh! Enjoy the fame!

The show looks so smart! If you weren’t one already- you’re now a local celebrity. With fame comes responsibility so consider blocking the driveway with some caution tape or pylons to keep the fans off your lawn. (Can you tell I live in L.A.?) Seriously- you’ve really done well and deserve all the attention and celebrity that comes with great accomplishment.
    Way to go!

Your display cases look so wonderful, I’m sure all the kids (and adults)will be absolutely spellbound by them. You are such an inspiration. Congratulations on a really brilliant show.

Congratulations on your show! I loved the layout in the cases – all very old style museum. Hope that everyone enjoys the show! It’s funny because even though I live in Scotland I have seen the Wellsley Library when visiting my aunt in the States – her husband’s mother came from Wellsley.
