Progress Pride Flag Quilt

August 13, 2022

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

bird hoop

August 18, 2010

Just a quick post today to say that I just added this brand new bird hoop to my shop.  All my fabric scraps are now out in this old wooden crate I found at the dump.  Seeing them makes me want to use them!

swan

August 17, 2010

Last week both of my kids got strep throat.  It was a tough week.  They were so  tired and achy and sad.  They are both better now and back for one final week at camp.  Charlie and I have been working at cleaning out the baby's room.  Our fourth bedroom was a home office forRead More →

a hoop for the shop and some thinking ahead

August 6, 2010

I'm so glad the bird embroidery hoops have gotten such positive feedback. I made one more, just for the shop!  It is there now.  I am trying to think ahead about what I want to do in the year to come, knowing that early in the winter I am going to give birth and welcomeRead More →

it’s my birthday

August 3, 2010

Today is my 35th birthday.  So far, I've had a nice day.  Roxanne and Stella gave me a big stack of of handmade cards this morning, with plentiful tape and stickers all over them.  And Charlie surprised me with a beautiful silver necklace and earrings he bought from an artisan jeweler downtown.  I'm making blueberryRead More →

I've started a new series of small work (4" in diameter) for the upcoming Teeny Tiny Art Show at Three Graces Gallery in Portsmouth, NH. The show goes up in September so I'll be working on these for the next few weeks.  Each one will have a mini-quilt background and a bird with hand-sewn feathersRead More →

crab and…the shop has fresh new items!

July 23, 2010

This crab was pure joy to make.  While Mimi was here last week for a visit and a lunch date, we were chatting a bit about how it is nice to revisit old patterns we've made.  Making them again is so freeing because the stress of figuring out how it will all come together isRead More →

All my work has arrived in Philly and is being installed today and tomorrow.  "Out of the Wild" promises to be a really fun show!  Animal imagery presented in fabric and thread – what could be better?  I hope if you live in the Philadelphia area, you'll come out for the opening on Saturday night.Read More →

Book Review: Beasties by Diana Schoenbrun

July 14, 2010

I was recently sent a few copies of Beasties, a new book of plush sewing patterns by children's illustrator and artist Diana Schoenbrun to review on my blog. I had never seen Diana's work, but was charmed after perusing her website and seeing her original stuffed animal and puppet designs.  Diana has another book outRead More →

antique textile show

July 12, 2010

I spent the morning at the Antique Textile and Vintage Fashion show and sale in Sturbridge, MA. It was overwhelming and amazing.  The amount and variety of vintage clothing and shoes, purses and scarves was really incredible. And the fabric…feedsack galore, lots of old crocheted lace, beautiful brocades, so many vintage buttons of every variety,Read More →
