I've started a new series of small work (4" in diameter) for the upcoming Teeny Tiny Art Show at Three Graces Gallery in Portsmouth, NH. The show goes up in September so I'll be working on these for the next few weeks.  Each one will have a mini-quilt background and a bird with hand-sewn feathers and wire legs.

Meanwhile, "Out of the Wild" opened at Art Star over the weekend. Here is a photo of one corner of the gallery. I love how my birds are perched on shelves up in the tree.

Today we are picking up our new car – a Chevy Traverse.  I'm sad to say good-bye to our perfectly good Subaru.  We've had it for seven good years. It was a wedding present from my in-laws and has been with us since we were newlyweds living in a third floor walk-up condo in Brookline, until now with two kids and a third on the way and house in the suburbs.

The new car is really nice, though. It seats seven!  And has a navigation system.  I get lost nearly every day and instinctively turn the wrong way everywhere I go, so I'm so happy to have a car that can tell me where to turn.

Beware where the GPS leads, sometimes :*) I do enjoy the background quilts. You have a feel for those fabrics…and the tree is a lovely touch.

I love how the birds look in the Art Star display. You have been quite busy lately. I’m just getting back into my work room after a stretch of dealing with some family stress – hoping things settle and I can concentrate and let the creative juice flow!

Yes, I have been feeling so much better and I'm so glad to be back in a groove of sewing nearly every day. It is so meditative. I need it! Looking forward to see what you are making, too!

Hi Abby,I’m here for the first time via one pretty thing, and just love your work! I have a weekly international blog linking party @creativejewishmom.com and very often “invite” some new creative faces to join by linking to a post from their blog. This week I’ve chosen you! I don’t know if you’ve seen my site, but I think you’ll like it! Please do stop by and we’d love to see you next week at the party! (Plus I’ll be sharing your work, hope that’s okay!)All the best!

Welcome! I'm Abby Glassenberg and I'm glad you're here. While She Naps is a blog about designing and sewing stuffed animals and running a creative business.
