Progress Pride Flag Quilt

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

40 weeks + 3 days

December 3, 2010

I can't commit to starting a big sewing project right now.  Even if I could finish it, psychologically it just isn't going to happen.  Lots of little projects are coming instead. First, a fabric tissue holder. And second, a patchwork pincushion with the selvege of some natural linen, and two wooden buttons.  Here's the frontRead More →

repurposed wool hat

November 30, 2010

I made this elf hat from a pattern in Bend the Rules Sewing, except I added a lining.  The striped wool was one of my favorite maternity sweaters. I wore it when I was pregnant with Roxanne and Stella, but when I pulled it out of the bag of maternity clothes from the attic toRead More →

Did I mention that I wrote a book?

November 30, 2010

Friday around noon we opened the front door to head out to a neighborhood restaurant for lunch and there on the porch was a FedEx package from Interweave. I excitedly tore it open because inside was the advanced copy of my book, The Artful Bird: Feathered Friends to Make and Sew!  It is hard toRead More →

salt dough

November 30, 2010

Yesterday the kids were home from school because our school system had a professional day.  We made salt dough in the afternoon.  We do this every year and it is always fun, inexpensive and really easy.   To make the dough, mix: 1 cup salt + 1 cup warm water.  Swirl around to dissolve some ofRead More →

Happy Due Date!

November 30, 2010

This is how my belly looks right now.  Today is baby Glassenberg #3's due date. She is still happy and warm inside me, but I think she is ready to come out and meet us pretty soon. I hope so!  Happy due date, baby girl.

patchwork projects

November 24, 2010

Over the last few days I transformed that piece of patchwork that was on my ironing table into this horse. It was fun to use these bits of vintage, treasured fabric and trim and some vintage buttons for this project.  I am trying to not be such a horder and actually use all the lovelyRead More →

Today I thought I would share with you a collection of some favorite bird-themed gifts from around crafty blogland. You know I love birds and there is just a plethora of amazing things being made out there with bird imagery.  There should be something here to satisfy all the bird-lovers on your holiday shopping list.Read More →

crafting is happening

November 17, 2010

I'm 38 + weeks pregnant and I'm tired. And huge. I'm excited to meet this baby girl, and I feel ready, but of course she is going to come when she is ready.  I have such a hard time waiting for things.  I am really very impatient. I'm patient with people, but totally impatient aboutRead More →

felt turtle

November 10, 2010

Yesterday I was in the mood to create something colorful.  I looked through my file of old patterns and decided to revisit one I hadn't made in several years – the turtle.  Although I originally made these turtles with quilting cotton, looking at the pattern again I thought I would give it a try inRead More →

jingle snails

November 8, 2010

Another windy, rainy November day here in Wellesley.  The leaves are falling off the trees en masse and it's getting dark early now.  I think winter is just around the corner.  I made this pumpkin pudding recipe this morning and it is delicious. I used one of our last pie pumpkins from our CSA share. Read More →
