patchwork projects

November 24, 2010

Horse1

Over the last few days I transformed that piece of patchwork that was on my ironing table into this horse. It was fun to use these bits of vintage, treasured fabric and trim and some vintage buttons for this project.  I am trying to not be such a horder and actually use all the lovely supplies that I have squirreled away in my boxes and bins.  I love all these materials and I am happier with the end product when I actually incorporate them and put them to good use.

I had a little bit of patchwork left over so I made this pincushion, too.

I used another bit of treasured trim and some more vintage buttons. Here is the back:

Both are for sale in my Etsy shop now.

I hope you have a fun, relaxing and tasty Thanksgiving. We are in town for the first time this year. We usually visit my in-laws in Connecticut, but with my imminent due date (on Tuesday!), we are grounded here at home.  We will be joining dear family friends instead. I am making pumpkin pudding and jalapeno-cranberry relish.  Cranberry sauce is my favorite part of Thanksgiving by far.  Seriously.  All I need on my plate is the crispy end bit of a turkey wing and a huge pile of cranberrry sauce and I'm all set. Wishing you a happy one!

That horse looks magical…like it should be part of a carousel.

Thank you, Audra! How fun to make a carousel! That would be amazing.

Wow, I love both the horse and the pincushion! Nicely done.
Cranberry sauce is my favorite part of Thanksgiving, as well. 🙂

Oh I love blogs. I can check back for those recipes! and I am amazed by what you did with the patchwork…turning it into that almost kaleidoscopic horse. Yes…carousels of horse and other creatures as well. Smart Audra and smart Abby!
