Progress Pride Flag Quilt

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

A sewing break

August 10, 2005

I’m taking a little sewing break this afternoon. I put Roxy down for a nap and went into the studio to get started and couldn’t think of anything to do. That’s a bad sign because I’m usually bubbling over with a thousand ideas. After dawdling around for a while, I took out an origami bookRead More →

Bunny

August 9, 2005

We had a great weekend on the Cape. The weather was perfect. Jen and Adam have a beautiful modern home way high up on the bluffs overlooking the bay. Roxy got to play with their daughter who is two years old and so smart and funny. It was really nice to get away, even ifRead More →

Flowers

August 5, 2005

A bee nestled in one of the zinnias in my garden Cock’s combs are also growing. They are such an amazing color red (and is that a daddy longlegs hiding in there?). And a sneak peak at something I am making for a swap with children’s illustrator Holli Conger. We are off to the CapeRead More →

Some questions

August 4, 2005

Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday. I woke up to some great birthday treats from Charlie and Roxanne, including several sweet and clever cards, two sewing boxes to help me get my sewing room/studio space organized, and…Adobe Photoshop (or actually a promise to purchase it during our upcoming tax free weekend here in Massachusetts).Read More →

Me and my mom leaving the hospital in August of 1975.

She nearly drowned (but she’s okay, dont’ worry!)

August 2, 2005

Two nights ago in the bath Roxy got the idea that it would be fun to lay down on her back. This was possible because we only put a few inches of water in the tubby when she takes a bath. She had so much fun getting her hair wet that I let her doRead More →

She’s walking backwards!

August 1, 2005

On Sunday morning Roxy suddenly realized that she could walk backwards. Now, if you say, “Back it up!” she starts walking backwards with a huge grin. I like making the “beep beep” sound of a truck backing up while she’s doing it. The Month of Softies gallery is complete. It is really fun to viewRead More →

Safetey eyes are evil

July 29, 2005

I went to a doctor’s appointment this morning and left Roxanne with a babysitter for two hours. And she did great. I was nervous about leaving her because she is so focused on mommy and she hardly ever stays with anyone else during the day. She cried for five minutes when she first woke upRead More →

Because I’m fuzzy

July 28, 2005

This new white fabric is so, so fuzzy! It’s very soft and perfect for a baby to cuddle with, but let me tell you – it is a fuzzy thing to sew. The fabric for this bear’s little dress comes via Katey at One Good Bumblebee. Thank you – it matched perfectly with this bear.Read More →

The challenge of presence

July 27, 2005

I was feeling so lonely and out of sorts yesterday. Sometimes I feel like my career has been stifled now that I am home with the baby. When I look back on my life before Roxy was born so much of my time and energy was spent developing my mind and my teaching career. IRead More →
