She’s walking backwards!

August 1, 2005

On Sunday morning Roxy suddenly realized that she could walk backwards. Now, if you say, “Back it up!” she starts walking backwards with a huge grin. I like making the “beep beep” sound of a truck backing up while she’s doing it.

The Month of Softies gallery is complete. It is really fun to view all the sock monkeys as a slide show (there are hundreds of them). This one is my favorite. I love the exposed stitching and the simplicity.

I made a new bear this weekend out of a soft and fuzzy thrifted scarf and a thrifted pillow case. She is posing above with an awesome ceramic bowl that my sister Rachel sent me for my birthday. And here she is under the coffee table.

I did some shashiko on her dress

and made some felt shoes with little flowers.

She’s a sunny little bear on another dreary day in New England. The Fabric Place in Framingham is having a big August sale. That’s where we’re headed (after the post office to mail out another bear that sold – this one is going to live in New York City). Two more days until my birthday!

Aww, itty bitty shoes! Isn’t it funny that walking backwards is something to discover – you forget that one day you must have done it for the first time. Children make everything new and exciting again don’t they?

Gosh, your bears are just the cutest!! I love their dresses and shoes and they have the sweetest faces 🙂

omg! i recognized the dress! i have that pattern from the 70’s — my sister’s comforter, sheets, etc that my daughter used for years (hand-me-downs from my mom)– i love it!
