Progress Pride Flag Quilt

August 13, 2022

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

Handmade Gifts to Sew for Tweens: Animal Neck Pillows

July 28, 2012

I was just at the toy store with my two younger daugthers. I noticed they have a whole section devoted to tween girls now. Lots of tie dye, cute erasers, temporary tattoos, pencil pouches, and…neck pillows! I have a bunch of really fun patterns for babies, like the Lovey Dovies and the Baby Bear andRead More →

where do you find the time

Where do you find the time?

July 25, 2012

Is there time to take care of three kids and to make things everyday? My answer is a resounding yes. In fact, the time constraints of motherhood are what spur my creative productivity.   In 2003 I had a whole summer off. I was a sixth grade teacher, married, living in an apartment we ownedRead More →

Scooter the Turtle: A Softie Pattern In the Making

July 20, 2012

Earlier this week I was talking about looking backward as a way to move forward. I seriously do this all the time and it works like a charm. At the heart of things, the initial spark of excitement about an idea is still there, even if I wasn't able to perfect the finished result whenRead More →

My Artist Group

July 19, 2012

Some members of the Wellesley Women Artisans.Photo by Kate Flock for Wicked Local. I've talked before about a local artist group I co-founded a year ago: the Wellesley Women Artisans. We've continued to meet regularly since then, coalescing into a wonderful group of amazing women. Last month we gathered on Crystalle's back patio for anRead More →

Looking Back as a Way to Move Forward

July 17, 2012

I was sitting in my studio yesterday thinking about what to do. I've finished up several big projects and now that it's summertime and I've met most of my deadlines I have a choice as to what comes next. Sometimes these open-ended creative moments can feel a bit paralyzing. Have you ever felt like youRead More →

Dachshund Puppy Pattern

July 13, 2012

I have a brand new pattern in the shop today: a dachshund puppy! When I was growing up we would always ask my mom to tell us stories about the dachshund she had as a child. His name was Meatball and, according to my mother, in the winter Meatball would sit on the heat grateRead More →

Scrap Bags

July 9, 2012

From time to time we spend a few days in Connecticut visiting with my in-laws and Charlie's sister and her family. Whenever we go, I bring some sort of project with me. It's always a tedious project I've been avoiding, something I would never get around to doing at home. But there, in the eveningRead More →

Baby Bear in Quilting Cotton

July 9, 2012

I decided to sew the Baby Bear from my Baby Bear and Blankie Set in quilting cotton to see how he would look. Lots of people have asked whether or not this project was suitable for cottons so I was curious to give it a try. Works great! I say go for it.

Make Your Own Humpty Dumpty: A New Online Workshop on Craftsy!

July 6, 2012

Click right here to enroll! Humpty Dumpty is the classic nusery rhyme character. What's not to love about a dapper, cheerful egg sitting so innocently on brick wall? I first made a Humpty Dumpty doll in 2007 and he has been one of my most popular designs. And today I'm thrilled announce that you canRead More →
