Progress Pride Flag Quilt

August 13, 2022

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

Snowbot

December 13, 2005

My sister, Rachel, is visiting us from D.C. for a few days. We had some success finally in taking Roxy out in the snow. Instead of crying because there was snow on her boots, she actually enjoyed being pulled along on the sled and making a “baby snowbot.” Notice the palm tree she is holdingRead More →

a fish, a hedgehog, an ebay find and a snowstorm

December 9, 2005

We are seriously considering doing the new baby’s nursery in black and white, maybe a few red accents. Inspired by this idea, I made another fish. Charlie helped me think of the contrasting yellow and purple for the eye. A few days ago I saw this found here thanks to Molly Chicken and became interestedRead More →

Soft Block

December 8, 2005

Inspired by a project in my Jean Ray Laury book, A Treasury of Needlecraft Gifts for the New Baby, I made this soft block out of felt. Lots of good embroidery practice and it came out rather nicely. It’s squishy and fun to play with. Such a fun, easy project – it came together inRead More →

A scotty dog and a lemon cake

December 6, 2005

I tend to be very productive on Mondays. Yesterday I made this little scotty dog from one of the first Japanese craft books I ever bought, Stuffed Toys Easy to Make. I have wanted to try this dog for a while and was happy to find a good project for this lovely piece of plaidRead More →

Pletzel

December 5, 2005

It snowed here yesterday and we stayed in. Charlie and I both felt like baking and he suggested we try another pletzel recipe. A pletzel is like an onion roll made from the same dough as challah. When Charlie was a child his Grammie used to make pletzel, or pletzlach, and bring it over toRead More →

2nd Flapper Girl Doll

December 3, 2005

I made another flapper girl doll with the same pattern I created for the first one. I used some of the scraps from the Plain Spoken quilt top I made for my yet-to-be-born neice, Emerson Rose. The beads on her boots are made from Sculpey and she has a cloth-covered button I made on herRead More →

Monkey for Murphy

December 1, 2005

Here is the sock monkey I made for my friend Austin’s son, Murphy. This monkey came out a bit bigger than I expected. I’d like to try one made from baby socks. We brought him over to meet the baby yesterday afternoon. I forget how tiny newborns are, how much like a fetus they are.Read More →

Stamp Swap

November 29, 2005

I signed up to participate in a little stamp swap Moki is organizing. You had to make an original stamp and use it to create 20 pieces of stationary and to stamp 20 of something else (I did gift tags). I was a little intimidated because I’ve never carved a stamp before. First I triedRead More →

We’re back

November 28, 2005

We spent Thanksgiving in CT with my in-laws and came back on Saturday. I managed to get some thrifting and some shopping done in New London, of all places. I found this incredibly cute tape measure at a place called Agent. These cards are from there, too. This one is from Kamibashi a very coolRead More →

A girl!

November 21, 2005

We had our 18 week ultrasound today and we are going to have another girl! I’m so happy that Roxanne will have a sister – my sister, Rachel, is such a great person and we have always had a really close relationship. Roxy deserves the same. Our new little one was waving and rolling aroundRead More →
