A scotty dog and a lemon cake

December 6, 2005

Dscn0007_6

I tend to be very productive on Mondays. Yesterday I made this little scotty dog from one of the first Japanese craft books I ever bought, Stuffed Toys Easy to Make.

I have wanted to try this dog for a while and was happy to find a good project for this lovely piece of plaid wool Mimi gave me. He turned out really nicely. I even got him a little collar to wear at the grocery store yesterday.

In evening, I made a lemon bundt cake from the new issue of Cook’s Illustrated.

We are hosting the holiday party for Charlie’s office this year and, in addition to providing hot beverages, I am also supposed to make a dessert. We auditioned this cake and I would say it is very tasty. I will either make this one or the almond bundt cake made with Solo almond filling that is my old standby. One advantage of the almond cake is it uses less bowls! My kitchen was pretty messy last night.

Today during nap time and going to…take a nap.

Such a sweet little doggy. Love his ‘fur’ or skin, or whatever it’s called :/ – and his little collar is the most adorable touch. And damn that cake looks good!

Your scottie dog is so cute! Is that a kitty collar? It fits so perfectly. I love all things lemon, so your bundt cake looks so yummy to me!

I love the scotty! And I am thrilled that you found something to make with some of the fabric! My Mom’s old fabric is now living a better life 🙂

    Hi!
I found this through the Crafting Japanese site, which I found through craftster.org. I am IN LOVE with this Scotty Dog, but being a 15-year-old, i don’t think my mom would approve of me ordering a book fromJapan. Is there a way you could maybe scan this pattern? My e-mail is marching.bands.of.manhattan(at)gmail(dot)com

    Hi Margaret,
I don't read Japanese either. The instructions are totally visual and very easy to follow. I don't have the rights to this pattern because I am not the author of this book, but I recommend purchasing it. It's got lots of terrific patterns on it.
