Progress Pride Flag Quilt

August 13, 2022

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

Vintage Patterns and My Amazon Affiliate Shop

November 14, 2011

I have two things to share today. First, I have had the most wonderful time choosing books for my new Amazon affiliate bookshop. The bookshop has several categories, each filled with books I love. When you click through from my links and purchase a book I get a very small percentage of the sale. It’sRead More →

Paper Mache Projects

November 13, 2011

Simon has been begging to do some paper mache. In fact, last week he was crying on the way to school, saying that he didn’t want to leave me. I got him calmed down with the promise of beginning our paper mache project that afternoon. Crafting is a pretty powerful bribe, huh. He decided toRead More →

birds for the holiday collection

November 9, 2011

I'm making some little birds with vintage fabric wings for the holiday collection. Coming right after Thanksgiving!

working on a holiday collection

November 7, 2011

In between big projects I have been working on a small holiday collection to put in my shop after Thanksgiving. So far, some mice.  They hang by their looped ribbon tails.

Ping Pong Ball and Handkerchief Fish: Free Tutorial

November 4, 2011

I was waiting in line at the grocery store over the summer and there, at the check-out, were packages of ping pong balls.  They caught my eye because they seemed like such an odd thing to have near the check-out, next to the candy and the rack of magazines. Six ping pong balls for aRead More →

cut-work lace bird

November 2, 2011

Last night the Wellesley Women Artisans group got together for craft night.  We learned how to decoupage glass plates from Laurie and generally had a really nice time chatting together.  I love craft night! My friend, Elizabeth, came armed with a huge box full of vintage sewing patterns for me!  And tucked inside was aRead More →

Happy Halloween!

October 31, 2011

Roxanne is Amelia Earhart. We drifted from our presidential theme of years past (here is Roxanne as Lincoln in Kindergarten and Washington in first grade), but still chose a figure from history. We found a leather aviator helmet online and a jacket at the thrift shop. I made a white aviator scarf and we boughtRead More →

in the studio today

October 28, 2011

I'm home in my studio this morning.  Here are a few glimpses of where I work. This is the far corner of the room where my ironing board lives. I use my ironing board as a cutting table because I only cut little pieces of fabric at a time. I have a crappy Rowenta ironRead More →

Hello! I am working and working with nothing to show here, but I decided to say hello anyway and give you an update on how things are coming along. A week or two ago I met with Lauren who owns Sew Easy, a sewing studio that offers afterschool classes for kids. Sew Easy has hadRead More →

A Spooky Giveaway

October 17, 2011

I've been a big fan of Wendi Gratz's blog Shiny Happy World for a long while now. I admire Wendi's goal of showing everyone that they can, indeed, learn to sew. No matter how new or intimidated you may be, no matter how many bad Home Ec. memories you may be harboring, you can getRead More →
