Progress Pride Flag Quilt

August 13, 2022

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

wading bird with aqua feathers

February 19, 2008

The very last of 14 pieces for Artstream.  Here he is sitting on the shelf in our family room.  I am coming to like photographing my work as it might be if you bought it, sitting on the mantle or on a bookshelf.  And here is a closer picture, this time in our living roomRead More →

wading bird in white

February 13, 2008

Another snowy day and another white bird.  We had a two hour delay this morning which gave us just enough time to build a lovely snowwoman and a snowdog companion before it began pouring rain and we had to scurry off to school.  They are now sadly melting into puddles on the front lawn. MyRead More →

a third small raptor (fall colors)

February 7, 2008

I finished this small raptor today. Yes, I just made three of these in a row.  As I’ve mentioned before, I like to make things in threes. Here she is with her friend. I would photograph all three together, but the third one is getting ready for an opening tomorrow night in Phoenix at TheRead More →

small raptor

February 3, 2008

A new small raptor.  The grey fabric was actually originally a white large scale floral print that I overdyed.  Charlie says she looks Egyptian with those eyes. I love wool stuffing. It is such a pleasure to work with – really soft and fluffy and it smells like lanolin. It has some different properties thanRead More →

small bird 6

January 28, 2008

I treated myself to this delicious piece of brown linen the other day and made this sixth small bird. I like that she is looking down.  I am always looking down when I walk, especially when I walk outside.  Usually  this is for the best because I find and pick up things that interest meRead More →

for Softies II

January 27, 2008

I’ve finished the two toys and patterns for Softies II and they are on their way to Australia. I just have to work on the fabric credits now.  I like that the two toys have similar attributes – a piece of the same fabric, jointed legs, vintage buttons, some raw edges.  These are both funRead More →

Mississippi Kite and a trip to the emergency room

January 23, 2008

I made this bird, my version of a Mississippi Kite, for an upcoming show with the theme of kites at The Trunk Space, a gallery in Phoenix.  When I was brainstorming what to make for this show I put “kite” into Google images and on the first screen saw these wonderful raptors called kites.  IRead More →

wading bird #5

January 17, 2008

I need to order Kona cotton several yards at a time. I keep buying half yard or quarter yard pieces and using them up as soon as they come in the door.  And I’m getting ready to finally order some wool stuffing.  My 10 lbs. of Buffalo Batt Superfluff are nearly gone now and IRead More →

snow bird

January 15, 2008

A new bird. Her wings are made from tiny hands.  The painting in the background is by Brigid McCabe. And a little owl from my sketchbook. I like his face.

owl 2 and an award

January 7, 2008

My little sister, Rachel, was visiting us from D.C. these past few days and it was so great to see her.  We immediately started thinking up projects for her new gocco and drooling over the big package of Sizzix paddle punches that just arrived.  My sister and I used to craft together all the timeRead More →
