Progress Pride Flag Quilt

August 13, 2022

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

Pesach and a Cordon Bleu

April 18, 2008

Passover is fast approaching and I’ve been cooking and cooking these last two days, with another day in the kitchen ahead of me.  On the Seder menu this year: -Hard Boiled Eggs-Haroset (I’m making that tomorrow)-Gefilte Fish with Homemade Horseradish (I didn’t make the gefilte fish this year, but I did last year and IRead More →

a coat, some seeds, a meeting, and a canary

April 15, 2008

Let’s see.  The Joseph coat came together really nicely and I presented it to Roxanne’s class today.  I showed them the pattern I made from a big sheet of newsprint and then did a little hand sewing demonstration with two leftover scraps of the fabric they had made. And then I pulled out the finishedRead More →

white elephant

April 10, 2008

I was really inspired by the 2nd Annual Softie Awards, especially when Therese put up the elephant tribute category.  I have always liked making elephants and there have been various iterations in the past few years, but I thought I’d take up the challenge and make a brand new one.  This white elephant is madeRead More →

swan

April 5, 2008

Some research (these are pages from Sibley’s Guide to Birds). Some sketching. Much pattern drafting. Many a gusset and many a dart. A wire armature through the neck and some fishing weights in the body. And a swan. My endurance is building.  It took me a week of steady work to make this. It feelsRead More →

website!

April 4, 2008

Hooray!  My website went live this morning and I am so thrilled with it.  Kim did an awesome job keeping it simple and modern and easy to navigate.  I hope you like it as much as I do.

Feather Your Nest!

March 31, 2008

"Feather Your Nest" opens this Friday, April 4, at Paper Boat in Milwaukee, WI.  I will have these ten pieces in the show and the amazing Amy Rice will have so many beautiful paintings up, too.  The opening party will be on April 18 if you live near Milwaukee.  I know Amy will be thereRead More →

penguin

March 28, 2008

A sketch. A prototype. And a penguin looking hopefully down at his egg.

just a little post

March 26, 2008

We are all afflicted with a stomach bug right now – actually everybody except Roxanne.  I’m really hoping she’ll avoid this one, but it seems awfully contagious.  Poor little Stella has had a rough go of it – so much puking and so much dirty laundry.  I’m hoping we’ll all be on the mend byRead More →

two chicks

March 21, 2008

You didn’t think I could stop with just one, did you?  They seem rather interested in those peels of birch bark.

chick

March 19, 2008

A newly hatched chick! So much fun to make.  She is up in the shop right now. This afternoon is devoted to making Purim costumes. I’ve got one Queen Esther and one Vashti and yards and yards of sparkly purple and gold fabric.  It should be a fun afternoon sewing with mommy!
