I’m thinking of doing a limited edition run of these little fellows. I am so happy making them and they’ve drawn a lot of interest from people. I can’t seem to let them go yet so I’m thinking maybe I’ll make a bunch (15? 25? am I going to get tired of making them by then?) and then put them all up for sale at once.
This elephant is the first with a patterned body. His front legs feature a man (Victor) and a woman (Sarah) who are to be wed, according to the text on the fabric which is rather Colonial in style, and his back legs have words from the selvedge sewn on them in hot pink thread. I love hot pink thread. And wooden buttons. And hot pink buttons.
I’m putting some pretty serious thought into teaching a soft toy making class locally, maybe at the rec. center. I love to teach and I do miss it. People often suggest things to me that I could do with my toys, like make patterns and sell them or market more to stores, etc., but that stuff doesn’t interest me much. What I really want to do, besides sit in my room and sew, is teach other people to make toys, too.

I would go for it! Follow the dreams and if you love to teach, why waste a heartbeat thinking about it?
I would love to teach a toy making class too, but first I have to get my skills up. You’re obviously further down the line, so you have a gift to teach! You owe it to the softies community =) Just go spreading the virus!

Can I join your class, please??
Pity I am way too far away…
Just dropped by to say I found your blog the other day and I think your toys are wonderful! I love the elephants, and the dancing bears are my faves. I hope there comes a day when I make my own toys as well..!
