work in progress

June 9, 2006

Here is my desk right now. I didn’t even clean up for you – just snapped a picture as it is at this moment. You can see the third, and last for now, cube zoo lion in need of a mouth and two more legs. Thank you, Fiona for the idea of posting works in progress on Fridays. I so enjoy seeing everyone’s work spaces and their projects mid-stream (you can see the little lion pin cushion Fiona made in use, as it is daily, on my desk).

Yesterday afternoon I had some daytime childcare for Roxanne thanks to my new Wellesley College student summer babysitter, Sarah. So, like Amanda, I used some of that time to go thrifting. There were many beautiful linens I could have bought, but I limited myself to these four. First, two sheets

The yellow one is quite large so I may give some away at some point. Next, a sweet floral pillow case

and, finally, a vintage curtain panel with a fun juvenile print. Here’s a close-up

The newspaper lists so many yard sales for this weekend, but it’s been just rain rain rain here so I’m not so sure whether I want to drag poor Simon around in this soggy wet mess.

Today I need to finish the lion and then draw some sketches for the cube zoo bear.

does that beer help you work? 😉 I love seeing your works in progress desk as is. Just right. And I’m happy to hear you got some thrifting time in–wahoo!! I have that yellow print too, and made it into a shirt. It’s sooo soft!

my newspaper is literally filled to the brim with garage sales. Tommorw I’m dragging myself out of bed and going nuts! And the third lion is looking cuter than ever.
