Today I’m showing off some softies made by you! I’ve chosen a few of the toys people have been making from my patterns because it’s just so fun to see them made up by different hands. Let’s take a look!
Jess Breitschwerdt has been busy making faux taxidermy from both of my faux taxidermy patterns. I like the colored plaques she mounted them on and the patterned fleece she used for some of these.
Frou Frou Handworks made this beautiful elephant. The style is really different – more romantic.
Kathryn Callahan made this beautiful unicorn.
And this patchwork giraffe by Megan Callahan is just fantastic. Patchwork makes perfect giraffe skin.
I also want to show you some of the many wonderful Humpty Dumpties out there. This dapper fellow is by Little Luckies:
And these two were made by Penny. So expressive!
This one is by Andrea Komornik:
And finally, I want to show off some of the wonderful Maya the Mermaids people have made. Zibergirl created beautiful pieced tails and jewelry for her mermaids.
Donna has sewn a whole group of sea creature softies from my patterns including Casey the Crab, three Penny the Fish, and five Maya the Mermaids!
Barrie made Maya and Penny together, too.
And one more before we go. When Jodi wanted to announce on her blog that she was pregnant with a sixth child she chose to do it this way:
Seriously! She put the Family of Dolls ebook to good use. Jodi, you’re amazing.
It’s a lot of fun to see everyone’s interpretations of each of these patterns. There are many, many more, of course, and I pin them when I see them to my Customer Toys board on Pinterest (I’m happy to pin yours if it isn’t there – just let me know!).
Sharing these designs and watching other people enjoy making them for themselves or giving them as gifts is one of the best parts of my job.
Some of these sewists had never made a softie before, or had never worked with fleece. Softie sewing is a special thing. It isn’t hard, but it is different from other sorts of sewing projects and I want to say thank you for being part of my community of softie makers!
