Guess who’s here just in time for holiday sewing? Ruby the Reindeer!
If you’ve been reading my blog for a year or more (thank you!) you may remember the first version of Ruby from last fall. I decided to pull him from my shop before the Christmas season really began. It was a difficult decision then, and I set this pattern aside for a long while.
But it was time to return to Ruby because I love this guy. I’ve redesigned his head entirely. It’s a different shape and has a nice rounded gusset. I’m thrilled with how he came out and I hope you like the new version!
That’s not all. In time for Christmas projects I’ve also got a brand new supply in the shop: comic eyes. Take a look:
Aren’t they adorable? A pair of these eyes adds instant personality to any softie. I love them.
These aren’t available in a regular fabric shop, or even in specialty doll and toy supply shops. They are truly hard to find so I’m really excited to bring them to you! Packs of 5 pairs are in my shop now.
And, best of all, its Black Friday today…
Get the pattern for Ruby the Reindeer, a pack of the new eyes, or another pattern, book, ebook, or supply you’ve had your eye on. The sale runs through the weekend, ending on Monday night at midnight.
Will you help to spread the word? Share the sale code with your Facebook friends, tweet it, or put it on Instagram. Your support helps me to write in-depth blog posts, design new sewing patterns, create my newsletter each week, and keep the podcast going. Thank you so much!
Your works are incredible!! I`m interested in making stuffed toys, I know how to make simple patterns but the sewing part is my problem. I`ve just started so I`m only familiar with basic hand sewing, are there any simple and easy to understand tutorials about hand sewing toys that you can suggest?

Rudy is so adorable. I had my eyes for a while on your caterpillar pattern, but Rudy would be perfect for christmas 🙂 Perhaps I will simply get both?
Hard decisions 😉 I am still debating as I am a quilter normally and have never made a softie, so a bit afraid of failing I guess 😉 Will probably not find out if I don’t try, so should really give it a go!
There are a few new skills to learn when making a softie versus quilting, but it isn’t very hard at all. Give it a try!
Just bought the patterns and some fleece! So wish me luck 🙂
Yay! Happy sewing, Verena!
SOLD! Adorable work, Abby – thank you for your wonderful website!!
Thank you so much!
I’m so glad Ruby is back! I remember what happened last year…and it was about time for Ruby to reappear
Thanks, Julie! I thought so, too.
I am so glad you have brought Ruby back! He is a wonderful softie and he deserves to be shared with the world. You dealt with a difficult situation very well. Kudos to you.
Thank you, Michelle.
I like this new pattern even more than the old one!
I remember last year very well and I thought it was a shame you pulled Ruby from the shop at the time. In my opinion you didn’t need to, but I understand why you did. Nobody needs that kind of stress in the holiday season! I’m glad you brought Ruby back. He looks really cute now – he looks younger 😉
I hope he becomes a huge success!
Best regards from Germany,
Sarah
Thanks, Sarah. You’re right! A rounded head gusset does make him look younger.
