Progress Pride Flag Quilt

August 13, 2022

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

How to Run a Flash Sale on Facebook: Soldsie

July 28, 2014

Facebook is the largest and most popular online social network and almost all businesses have a Facebook page now. If you’ve really spent time building a large and engaged audience on Facebook you’ve probably tried to sell your products to your Facebook fans at one time or another.  Posting a photo of your newest andRead More →

Aurifil’s Alex Veronelli’s Online Behavior Seems Questionable to Me

July 25, 2014

I tweeted back, suggesting that this felt to me like an unprofessional thing to say on social media, given his role in the company. Veronelli replied, “On socials I prefer to be genuine, exposing outright all my defects & vices, rather than to be settled and look forcedly professional.” I replied that given Aurifil’s predominantlyRead More →

I'm not sure if they've changed things around recently. I've been seeing a Soldsie FB ad and people's comments are chiming in with different numbers. They may have different price points for different products, or they might have made some changes to their pricing overall? They required me to pay for a 6-month contract out right, at $200/month = $1200 total. Each $200 pays for a month of commission of 6%, and if I accumulate commissions above $200, the difference gets billed to me at the end of the month.

New Lovey Dovey Set Coming Soon

July 24, 2014

I began selling PDF patterns in March of 2012. Some of my first designs were softies to make as baby gifts. I came up with a set of lovies and a teddy bear with a coordinating blankie. I’m really not sure where this idea came from, but boy am I glad I acted on it.Read More →

My guests on this episode of the While She Naps podcast are Cal Patch and Jen Beeman. Cal Patch has been a maker since she was a Girl Scout in the seventies. Peanut Baby Collage 2

Peanut Baby Sew-Along Wrap-Up and Prizes!

July 17, 2014

Even after all these years it still kinda amazes me to how we are all connected so easily with one another now. Host a sew-along and watch as women all over the globe sew from the same pattern, sharing ideas and fabric choices and getting motivated and inspired by one another. It’s pretty magical. Hexie Lion Pillow

Hexie Lion Pillow Free Tutorial

July 16, 2014

I came up with this design by simply playing around with 12 paper hexagons, arranging and rearranging them like I was playing Tangrams. When I connected them to form a ring they looked to me like the mane of a lion and that was the spark that lead me to design this hexie lion pillow.Read More →

Pete the Bear

More Fun with Pete the Bear (a Free Pattern)

July 14, 2014

This weekend I pulled out the buckets of quilting cotton scraps and spent a fun few hours sewing some new Pete the Bears.  Pete is a free pattern (download it right here) and is the perfect little canvas for playing with fun color combinations, trim, and buttons. My original Pete was sewn from wool scrapsRead More →

Should you Move Your Blog from Blogger to WordPress?

July 11, 2014

Last month, I moved my blog to WordPress.org after nine years on another platform. I also moved my shop from Big Cartel to my new WordPress site. The decision to move was a hard one to make and meant a big investment in both time and money. I know that I wasn’t alone in wonderingRead More →
