Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

How to Do Weekly Bookkeeping and Why It’s Your Most Powerful Business Tool

September 10, 2014

When I was a senior in high school we were allowed to take one class pass/fail. I chose math and thank goodness I did. I was really good at school. Straight A’s, Dean’s List, Phi Beta Kappa and all that, but math had started to be my downfall and it was about to get worse.Read More →

Enhance Your Lighting With a Sewing Machine LED Light Kit

September 8, 2014

I sew in a corner of our bedroom where there’s not much natural light. The windows are small and mostly screened by trees. In addition to the overhead lights, I have all sorts of extra lamps set up – one on my desk, another clamped to the ironing board, and another next to the sewingRead More →

Market Research Takes the Fear Out of Getting Started

August 29, 2014

In 2011 I was at a crossroads. I had just turned in the manuscript for Stuffed Animals and I wasn’t sure what to do next. For a year I’d been writing a book which meant I was in the rhythm of creating a new pattern every three weeks. I’d learned a lot in the processRead More →

I pre-ordered Sew Cute to Cuddle by Mariska Vos-Bolman as soon as I saw it on Amazon and was so excited when it arrived last week. Aside from sewing, playing games like judi roulette online is also a great pastime. Mariska is the designer of the popular PDF softie pattern business, DIY Fluffies. She’s DutchRead More →

4 Doll Makers You Should Know About

August 25, 2014

Making a three-dimensional creature from fabric is a creative challenge, but creating a person from fabric is perhaps even harder. We’re quick to judge the beauty of a doll. You have to get the proportions and the features just right to make an appealing fabric human, don’t you think? When I come across an artistRead More →

Podcasts are a big part of my life. Being able to listen to independently made radio shows about the niche topics I’m most interested in is totally fantastic.
