Progress Pride Flag Quilt

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

half way there

August 7, 2008

Three of six drab birds are finished.  I think the next three will be warmer shades. I couldn't resist a few brown and taupe fat quarters at the fabric store on Saturday when Roxanne and I went to pick out her dress fabric.  Speaking of the dress, it is also about half way there andRead More →

drab bird #2

August 4, 2008

Slow but steady progress on birds.  As camp winds down I have only the evenings to sew, but they are lovely quiet evenings with my ipod and little piles of drab fabric.  Roxanne saw Stella’s dress and wanted me to make one for her to start school with, too.  We went to the fabric storeRead More →

a new dress for Simon

August 1, 2008

My littlest one is starting school in just over a month.  He will be at the same nursery school with Roxanne, but just two mornings a week from 9-12. And he is raring to go, asking me every day when he will be going to Room 8.  I feel that this is a perfectly goodRead More →

1 of 6 drab birds

July 28, 2008

Whew!  It has been a few days since I’ve posted here.  Roxanne is currently attending two summer camps at once, Charlie is away on a business trip, we are embarking on a major landscape construction project to transform our backyard into usable space, and my mom is in town.  And our babysitter is away thisRead More →

looped lark in red

July 21, 2008

We had a great time at the opening at artstream on Friday night, despite a really scary and trying drive up there through much traffic and torrential rain!  It was so nice to see Susan again and to meet many women artists from blogland in person at long last.  I do love the internet forRead More →

Art Shows at Bluebottle and Three Graces

July 17, 2008

Just a quick post today. I am excited that my birds arrived safely in Seattle and are now listed on Bluebottle Art Gallery’s website!  I feel so honored to be listed there, along with so many awesome folks including the amazing Eleanor Grosch. Also this week I am working with Kim, my web designer andRead More →

small owl!

July 15, 2008

I made a very small (only 7″ tall!) version of my owl soft sculpture.  This little fellow is here in the studio now, hanging out with small sewing notions and feeling rather antsy as other, larger birds, peer down at him.  I find him rather endearing, though.  As usual, he has a wire armature andRead More →

looped lark

July 11, 2008

This small series is now complete and I will ship three birds to Blue Bottle Art Gallery and Boutique early next week.  The final one is this looped lark. Here she is from another angle so that you can see her open beak. And a detail of the loops and stitching on the wings. I’mRead More →

A Rooster

July 9, 2008

The second piece for Blue Bottle Art Gallery.  This rooster is more pink and deep red than the previous orangey one.  Deep red is my favorite color and it always makes me happy to pick red fabrics and sew with red thread. I have one more bird to make in this little series and thenRead More →

owl (in grey)

July 6, 2008

I hope you had a great 4th of July.  It was a bit on the cold and cloudy side here, but we still enjoyed the parade in Needham, hosted a cookout and attended another. Here we are trying to stay warm and dry while admiring the floats going by. It was a nice long weekend. Read More →
