Progress Pride Flag Quilt

August 13, 2022

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

Kid’s Craft: How to Make Glue Batik

February 23, 2010

Last week was February vacation.  We spent three days with Charlie's parents in Connecticut and the rest of the week at home.  The kids were in nature camp three mornings and we had playdates every afternoon.  It was fun. Tiring, but fun. We had warmer weather over the weekend and poor James Madison met hisRead More →

a gull and David Small

February 18, 2010

I finished a white gull this morning while the kids were at vacation week nature camp. I will bring this to my meeting with Mass Audubon in a few weeks.   I enjoyed flying it around the house while taking its picture.  Very fun to play with. Last week I got a PDF of theRead More →

scenes from school vacation

February 16, 2010

It is vacation week here, and it snowed today.  We've been inside, drawing and painting, watching the Olympics by the fire and baking bread.  Outside, we built a five foot snowman James Madison complete with an American flag (Roxanne is still in a presidential state of mind).

projects for March

February 11, 2010

I committed to making a few things for the spring auction at Roxanne's school next month.  With our oldest daughter just starting kindergarten this year we are newbies to the spring auction so I'm not sure what would be best to make.  I thought I'd try a few and things and see what happens.  IRead More →

February 8, 2010

Yesterday… and today. I'm spending my morning sewing wings. This trio is making me think about Spring. —- The photo shoot for my book is today and there will be another shoot tomorrow.  My birds are in Colorado without me.  I hope they are well-behaved for the camera.

Roar!

February 5, 2010

Earlier this week I set about making a second lion.  I cut and sewed the body from cream-colored wool felt. Then I cut open a failed fox and harvested his stuffing. I stuffed the lion firmly, leaving a the fox empty. Poor foxy. I closed the opening and stood him up. His friend was there,Read More →

Kid’s Craft: Origami Airplane Valentines

February 1, 2010

We've been folding paper planes from silver paper. And attaching little messages. 22 in total.  Valentines for the Kindergarten class.

around the studio today

January 28, 2010

Last week we hung up two beautiful mid-century shelves we found on Craigslist.  Finally a place to display things. On the lower one I put my lion, some vintage spools, a little vase with some bare branches, vintage wooden alphabet stamps, a bird, and a collage Lisa Solomon gave me in a swap aRead More →

three sheeps later

January 26, 2010

This sheep was a long, slow and painful little project.  This is the third version. The first had a tiny head and wool loops made from two different yarns. The second had a too round head that I accidentally sewed in white.  I'm happy with this third version although I stabbed myself with theRead More →
