Owls and Cards

February 3, 2006

Dscn0013_8

I’ve been really liking making owls recently. I developed this pattern for Sidney the Owl and it works really well.

I sold Sidney a while ago, but his green nubbly girlfriend was still around and I made two more just like her from different fabrics (actually three, but the third is still in a state of flux) and then I made each of them a matching sewn greeting card.

The owls on the cards are pen and ink with watercolors on muslin. I cut them out and then sewed them onto little pieced squares and used double-sided interfacing to attach them to dark brown postcards. These are going up in the shop now.

It’s pouring rain here today. I actually wanted to photograph my owls outside in little nests of pine branches, but not today I guess.

We had an ultrasound yesterday to check on the baby’s growth – because Roxy was so tiny we get to have lots of ultrasounds this time around. The doctor estimated that this baby is already 2 lbs. 10 ounces which puts her in the 65th percentile. I am feeling good about that. And he confirmed that we are having another girl.

I’ve been making owls too (owls and pussycats!). Yours are so darn cute – they look all innocent and cuddly. Making cards with them is a really nice idea. So sweet!

Cool owls! I have been seeing owls everywhere – they’re so hot now. I love the cards that you make to go along with them – great idea! Great cards! Maybe you should print them as a set!
