A friend for Fluffed for Softness

Dscn0006_22

This guy’s body is made from thrifted wool I’ve had forever. His ears are a Japanese fabric I got in a swap and he has some Japanese measuring tape trim on his front legs. His back legs are made from a piece of 70’s fabric that came in a bag of vintage scraps I found on eBay many months ago – just a tiny piece perfect for this project. And his buttons came to me via the vintage button swap.

Here they are hanging out together

We had a lovely Rosh Hashanah. Friday Charlie came home from work early and we baked the challah and set the table. The challah with saffron and golden raisins was just lovely. I think this picture of me and my two girls Friday afternoon fairly well captures my life right now trying to raise two babies and hold it all together

and here is Roxanne and daddy blowing their shofars.

We spent much of the weekend at shul, but this afternoon I asked Charlie to help me pull out all of my finished soft toys and decide what to send to Magpie, what to sell at the November craft fair, and what to save for the solo show in March.

When I saw them all together spread out on our bed, actually only two or three months worth of work, my first thought was, “This must signify some sort of psychosis.” Seriously.

But really I think it is the opposite. This little imaginary world keeps me sane.

Hehe, a lil shofar? Too cute! There was a bunch of guys at our sunday service that blew the shofar and one was maaaaybe 14…and all that came out was spit on the front row, haha.
And the photo of all the stuffed creatures totally wowed me, you have so much to show! And so much to be proud of 🙂

After seeing the bed full of softies, I am picturing this for your library show ~
A land full of stuffed girls and boys. Playing, reading books, watching the clouds… In the background maybe some tree people, or one of the displays could be a ‘magical’ forest with some children wandering down the path. Maybe a library scene in one, a zoo scene in another, or underwater with fish and a mermaid. (But the stuffed children linking the worlds together)

oh, loveliest of sicknesses! We’re no stranger to psychosis in my house, but it rarely takes such delightful form! (of course, no one here naps for more than 20 minutes!…) Congrats on your hard work and super cute new beings. Don’t suppose you consider adding my shop to your commitment list yet? f not, I atleast need to take an elephant home for love at our house.

As a fellow crafter and mother of four, 6 and under, I applaud you and your hobby. Crafting definitely keeps me sane as well!

I agree with all the above – crafting keeps me sane. (It’s better than drinking) 🙂 Oh, and I think we have the same comforter underneath all those marvelous softies – it’s suede isn’t it, with matching dust ruffle and shams. My fav softies are the argyle sock monkeys. Have a great craft show!
