Okay, the yellow and grey lion is all done. His seams are right side in, unlike the inside out seams on the others, so he looks a bit more tidy – maybe too tidy? I do like his color scheme, though – similar to the colors I used on these placemats.
I also worked on this little mouse in linen and a lovely print. His underside is linen, too, and the back of his ears are a soft nubbly sort of fur fabric. Perhaps a piece of cheese is in order? Maybe made from felt? A cheese party hat? Hmmm..
If you’re in need of a little softie inspiration, check out this amazing site. These toys are just exuberant. Not sure if they are all made by one person, they certainly are all in a signature style, and if they are all done by one artist, wow. So productive.
I have a new idea floating around in my head to make a softie and sew it to a painted canvas. Sort of a 2-D/3-D painting and soft sculpture combo. Now I feel I MUST get to the art supply store IMMEDIATELY to get the materials I need to start on it. But it’s nap time. Seriously, I need an art store that delivers.

I adore the zoo cubes! I think I like the seams on the outside – just a personal opinion. I definately think the littlemouse needs a piece cheese, how cute!

Thank god the art store *doesn’t* deliver… I just know that I would be broke in no time at all.
It’s only my need for instant gratification that keeps me from ordering off of the internet.
(LOVE the mouse addition, btw 🙂

Those soft toys are indeed made by one person! She’s featured in the latest Cotton & Paint magazine, it has a page where it shows you how to make one of her bears!
