the sukkah is up

October 14, 2008

We built the sukkah on Sunday.  It went up very easily this year and looks so beautiful out there on our patio.  Here I am wielding the drill

And here it is all finished.

The party is on Sunday and we will have lots of pre-school aged kids running around, eating and playing.  I have a craft project planned (you knew I would, didn't you?) and it is, of course, bird related.

Some owl paper bag puppets.  These were easy to put together – construction paper triangles and circles for the face, button eyes, furry felt bellies and pipe  cleaner feet, and fall leaves for wings.  I hope the kids like making them.

I had jury duty this morning.  And yesterday afternoon I badly cut my pointer finger on my left hand while cutting zucchini and had to go to the doctor to get it bandaged up properly.  So not the most fun 24 hours, but thankfully Charlie has been home for the past two days. And I got some time in my studio this afternoon, albeit with a bandaged finger.  Charlie took this photo

I finished a tall bird for my swap with Lisa Solomon, but didn't photograph it before boxing it up.  Maybe she will take a picture for me when it arrives.

Chag Sameach! The Sukkah looks great, as do all the rest of the photos. I just took all our decorations down for the night because we have had a few spots of rain. I am trying to preserve 7+ years of kids decorations. They’ll go up again tomorrow. Have a fun party!

Chag Sameach! Your Sukkah looks great, as do the rest of the photos! I have just taken all our decorations down as it has just begun to rain here and I didn’t want to spoil 7+ years of the kids decorations. Hopefully they’ll go up again tomorrow. Hope your finger is better soon.

I love how they are all looking to see who you are going to add to the family. Do they get on your nerves when sewing isn’t going as planned?
Have a great sukkah.. It is the holliday that every year makes me regret I am not Jewish!

A belated happy new year to you. And enjoy the time spent in your lovely sukkah. I was always jealous of my neighbor’s sukkah as a kid. Your craft project for the kids is darling (and is so you).

It was a long time ago, so I'm not sure I remember, but I think it was either with a stapler or with craft glue.
