Stuffed Animals Goes to Press Again

June 25, 2013

I just wanted to pop in briefly today to share some good news. My editor at Lark, Thom O'Hearn, emailed me this morning to tell me that my newest book, Stuffed Animals, is going to press for a second printing! I don't know all that much about how these things work, but according to Thom a reprint less than two months after publication is "incredibly fast!"

Sa cover

I'm truly grateful to everyone who supported the blog series that led to
this book, and the book itself. Thank you for helping to make it a
success.

If you haven't seen the 2 minute trailer, you can see it here, but I also wanted to share this 30 second featurette on one of my favorite projects from the book, the kangaroo.

Kangaroo Featurette from Abby Glassenberg on Vimeo.

I designed this project to show a few neat techniques. The legs are attached in a really clever way that gives you a strong, machine sewn seam, but is really easy to accomplish once you see how it works. And, of course, there's a pocket for the Joey finger puppet!

I hope you enjoy sewing the patterns in the book and, of course, designing your own. You guys are the best. Thank you.

Congratulations, Abby! I knew your book would become a “classic” as soon as I set eyes on it. I’ve been wanting to try those sewn-on legs ever since you first blogged about them. I’m sure it will rock my little sewing world when I finally try it! I love all your little videoettes, too.

Congratulations! I am loving my copy, so well written and full of useful information. I designed this little lamb for my daughters sixth birthday using several of your techniques: http://for-hand.blogspot.no/2013/05/eit-lam-om-varen.html

    Hi Elisa,
You did a fantastic job with this lamb! Shes incredibly sweet, with the pink lining of her ears and her turned head. Im so impressed! Thank you very much for sharing her with me.

    Congratulations Abby!
I purchased my copy at the Wellesley Booksmith as soon as it came out! The projects look wonderful, and it is so nice to have so much detailed “how to” information all in one book. I can’t wait to try one of your projects, andmaybe even met you some day!

Congratulations! The book is an incredible resource. The projects themselves are fantastic (I’ve made the elephant and I adore the camel), but the techniques even helped me finish my first sewn design, something I’d been working on forever.

    Hi Katarina,
You must live right near me! I saw the book at Wellesley Books and was SO EXCITED! Hooray for indie bookstores supporting local authors. I hope to meet you some day around town!

Thats terrific. I cant tell you how happy it makes me to know that people are using the book for exactly what you describe. Softie making is so wonderfully creative and once you see how it all works, the world is wide open to you!
    Thank you, Nicky!
