I’m so saddened by this morning’s news that Nancy Zieman has passed away. Nancy was a huge inspiration to me, and to so many of us. As a woman, a business person, and a working mom, Nancy lived her life with grace. She worked hard, had an excellent moral compass, and set a high bar for all of us to reach when it comes to being a participant in the sewing and quilting industry.
In May, a few months before she got sick with cancer again, I had the privilege of interviewing Nancy Zieman about her work and her life. It was truly an honor and I have to say it was also a highlight of my professional career. I wanted to replay that interview for you today as a way of honoring Nancy’s memory which I know lives on so strongly in all of us. Here it is.
Hi, I want to wish you my condolences. Her tutorials were very helpful.

I listened to this interview this evening after I heard the news about Nancy’s passing. She will not be forgotten as I have so many of her videos and her products, and to say the least, I have been donating to my local PBS station in Louisville, Kentucky for the past two years to help to keep Sewing with Nancy shows on. Nancy gave me such inspiration to make guilts, handbags and so much more. Rest easy Nancy.
I was very sad to hear of Nancy’s passing, she made the world a better place. My heart goes out to her family and friends everywhere. I had the privilege of meeting Nancy a few years ago at the quilt show in Madison. What a wonderful woman. She was a great inspiration for everyone who sews, and also for her extreme generosity to those less fortunate.
Although I never met Nancy, it has saddened my heart. Anyone who sews, knows Nancy and she will be missed. My prayers to the family.
Enjoyed her lookback on how technology and time has changed the marketplace. I recall all of the stages she details beginning in the 80’s. Sorry to hear of her passing and thankful to all her efforts and willingness to take risks and wonder “what if?”. She certainly changed and improved sewing over the years. Good interview.
So saddened to hear of Nancy’s passing, and the world will miss her dearly! I can’t even count how many times I’ve referred to her videos or books in helping hand with my projects. What an amazing person and I’m truly going to miss her because to me she was so much more in this world of sewing.
Not knowing personally I’ll hold her very close to my heart and my prayers go out to her family!
Thank you,Abby. I am very sad and will miss Nancy and her show. Rest In Peace, Nancy .You’ll not be forgotten❤️
I am struck by how saddened I am to read of Nancy’s passing. She was clearly a humble, hardworking, and fearless woman who built a successful business from her passion for sewing and needle arts. Thank you for honoring her by replaying this wonderful interview.
I loved your interview with Nancy when I listened to the original broadcast. I could feel the respect you have for her, as do I, for being one of the pioneers of the craft world. I got a kick out of reviewing the progress that technology has made!
So sad to hear of the death of Nancy, she will surely be missed by so many of us. All my thoughts and prayers are with Richard and her children at this very difficult time. In 2011 my husband was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and so far he has been in remission, but every day is a worry ,whether the cancer will return. It is a very horrible disease.
A very appropriate way to honor Nancy is/was re=playing your interview with you. I too am saddened by the too short span of her life.
Thanks for the review. Jean
Abby, Thank you for replaying this interview. So sad to hear about Nancy, what an inspiration! Thoughts and prayers to her family. Nancy will live on for a very long time.

Dear sweet Nancy, I listened with intent to hear how Sewing With Nancy came to be – thank you so much for this Abby, I am so sad to hear she has passed. I still have her shows on VCR tapes that I can no longer play 🙁
I too was saddened by the loss of Nancy! I just happened to be on The Crafty Quilter’s blog and clicked on a link that led me to your blog and I’m so glad that after I reviewed the particular article that I clicked on the home page and saw the posting of the podcast! Thank you for sharing this in memory of Nancy; how great it must have been to have done this interview! It was comforting to hear!
