penguin

October 26, 2006

I am doing a craft fair one week from tonight and I think it is about time to take all the toys down out of the closet and label and price everything. I only can manage one craft fair a year, but it is fun to see people interact with my toys in real life (not just in blogging life, although that is always fun) and ask questions about them.

I made this penguin* just to get a dose of cute after that creepy fish. So creepy! I’m thinking maybe I should fiddle with the eye and the lips a bit and go for a sweeter look.

*He is posed next to a little sculpture made by Charlie’s grammy. It is a bit broken, but I kind of like the way that bird on top is upside down.

I love that little guy! And I think your fish is awesome…he’s different than the stuff you usually make, but still really cool…don’t let your inner skeptic get the best of you. You rock and are a regular source of inspiration for me!

i love your penguins. the little scarves get me every time. And I LOVE the fish. Don’t change him much. And especially not that creepy-cool green fluff across his back. or his scales. Or his eye. I like his eye! Yeah, maybe you shouldn’t change anything. 😉

Don’t change the fishy! I love him and his macabre ways! Maybe just make him a sweeter friend and have a mix?

I love everything you’ve made but the fish reeeeally stikes my fancy. I would love to see a series of animals in this “horrible” style 🙂

Abby, I love the penguin! Studio Craft is my very first show of any kind, and I think I know why you say you do one a year! Its quite a bit of work!
Did you see the Plush You II photoset I took over at Flickr? Your sweet dolls are in there. So sweet.

He is adorable! I was a intern at the Baltimore Zoo Many years ago and I worked with the penguins a lot. Mostly cleaning which was very icky, but I wouldn’t mind cleaning up after this little cute guy anytime!
