Progress Pride Flag Quilt

Progress Pride Flag Patchwork quilt

I’m very excited to have finished this patchwork Progress Pride Flag quilt. The pattern is by Bobbie Gentili from Geeky Bobbin. All of the fabrics are scraps from my stash.

This was a fun project and the finished quilt is really bright and colorful. As part of this process, I also enjoyed learning more about how the design of the Progress Pride flag came to be.

a hairclip and a pincushion

July 18, 2011

Josephine's hair is starting to grow in and it's strawberry blond.  So pretty. Last night I made her a hair clip from this tutorial on the Purl Bee.  I got to dig out the yo-yo maker for this, plus some pink Kona and wool felt scraps. She hasn't figured out that she's wearing yet itRead More →

coloring flowers and a lovey

July 14, 2011

Inspired by Jean’s post the other day, I asked the kids if they wanted to do a science experiment yesterday when they came home from camp. “Yes!” was the resounding answer, although Stella suddenly got worried and asked me if we were going to need to hurt any animals to do the experiment. Um, no.Read More →

The workshop I'll be teaching at Gather Here in Cambridge, MA, at the end of the month is fully enrolled and I'm getting excited to sew birds with everyone! We will be making a bird ornament, one of the projects that ended up getting cut from The Artful Bird due to space constraints. Over theRead More →

Getting Together with Other Artists

July 6, 2011

I went out last evening with what is tentatively being called Etsy Women of Wellesley (EWW – I think we may need a new name!).  We had a wonderful evening at Alta Strada in Wellesley Square, chatting and laughing together about how we run home after dropping our kids off at school and furiously pursueRead More →

I'm very excited to tell you that I will be teaching a fabric bird making class at Gather Here, a fantastic new sewing, knitting, crafting and generally amazing shop and stitch lounge in Cambridge, MA. The class will meet on the evening of Wednesday, July 27, and the cost is $65, which includes all theRead More →

chickens

June 27, 2011

Last week I took all three kids on a plane trip to visit my sister in D.C.  It went surprisingly well, despite the fact that all of us, except the baby, have had a terrible stomach bug.  My sister and her husband have a lovely new townhouse in Old Town, Alexandria. We celebrated my Dad'sRead More →

Four days of fiddling with zippers and I finally figured it out.  Whew.

Felt Strawberries

Summertime Craft: Make a Felt Strawberry

June 14, 2011

Summer is here and so is strawberry season in New England.  We will be picking strawberries this afternoon when we visit Land’s Sake Farm in Weston to pick up our weekly CSA share. I’m looking forward to strawberry shortcake, strawberries with whipped cream and a bowl of juicy, tart strawberries at breakfast. I made someRead More →

Make Your Own Bubble Wand

June 9, 2011

Stella came home on Tuesday telling me all about the bubble wands they had made in preschool.  After having a quick snack, she went off to gather some supplies so that we could make our own at home. And they really work! I had to share these with you! Quick, nearly free and really fun.Read More →
