new photos

February 29, 2008

The CD of photos that my friend Elena took came in yesterday’s mail.  They are really super! I’m so glad I took the time to have good photos taken before all my birds fly off.  Here are a few of my favorites

See the whole set starting here.  I’m thinking of having some packs of cards printed up to put on Etsy. What you do you think?  A six pack of assorted cards?

I want to say thank you to Kristen from Schmancy for this write up on the Plush You blog yesterday and I wanted to let you know that beginning next week there will be some birds for sale at Moss in Savannah, GA.

Well, I’m making my television debut. Don’t get too excited, it’s not Martha. On Monday I am being interviewed by Wellesley Public Access Television. The producers saw my blog and would like to do a piece about me and my work. I asked if I could please come to their studio, but no, they are coming to my house to film me in my "studio."  Yes, my studio is actually our bedroom.  Oh my.   What should I wear?  How can I possibly neaten up all that fabric in time?

    Holy shit.
There’s NO WAY I would be able to cope with a tv crew coming into my house…… that veneer that seperates the blog and real life is really, really thick at my house!
The photos look gorgeous – they really do justice to your work…. and they make me realise how much I love that owl. So, so much.
    Good luck with the TV!

I don’t know about anyone else, but when I see your birds, my insides dance around like a 3 year old, my heart warms up and my day improves immediately! Your work is destined for greatness, Abby. I’ve watched your blog since Mimi put me onto you last year and I’m so glad she did. Good luck with your interview. Geri.

I don’t see an owl for sale at any of the online stores. Will you be selling any on Etsy?

The photos are fantastic! Definitely make postcards – they would fly right out of your shop! (No pun intended, but there it is. Hi, pun!) Seriously, a six pack of assorted cards would be brilliant.
Also, congratulations on your interview! That is so cool!

Your pieces are stunning in the context of other items in the home – lovely shots from your friend.
And your comments yesterday about the knitting and sewing sounds and repetition in the books you’ve been listening to were just wonderful. They made me want to go back to those books with fresh eyes and ears.

Leave your studio like it is – it’ll make all the sewers and crafters watching feel better.
I’m hoping to make a day trip up to Milwaukee to see your work at Paper Boat.
