It’s Your Turn to Be on the Podcast

November 13, 2018

Community Episode

The end of 2018 is just around the corner and I’m excited to be producing the third annual Community Episode of the While She Naps podcast.

If you listen to the podcast you know that towards the end of every episode I ask my guest to recommend great stuff they’re enjoying right now. I always learn about neat things during this segment of the show (and often find myself ordering books, subscribing to podcasts, and downloading apps right on the spot!).

For the Community Episode of the podcast, I’m asking you, my listeners, to call in and recommend your favorite things. (To get a sense of how this works, tune in to last year’s show and the one from the year before).

Take a minute to think of something you’d recommend to a creative friend. It could be:

  • a book
  • a magazine
  • a website
  • an app
  • a special tool like a paintbrush or a crochet hook, etc.
  • a pattern
  • a newsletter
  • a podcast or audiobook
  • a class, retreat, or conference

It doesn’t have to be new. It just has to be something you truly enjoy and would recommend that other creative people check out. Please choose 1-2 things and refrain from promoting your own products or services. I’m afraid I won’t be able to use your clip otherwise.

Got something? Yay!

Now tell me about it!

Start by saying:

  • Your first and last name and where you’re from.
  • The name of your website (if you have one).
  • What you’re recommending and why. Be sure to tell us how we can get it.

The recording is can be up to 2 minutes in total, or you it can be shorter. If you mess up you’ll be able to hit reset and start over so don’t worry! When you’re ready, hit send and it will land in my inbox.

A few tips for making things sound good – try plugging in some headphones while you record and be sure you’re in a quiet room.

I know it can be a bit nervewracking to hear your voice on the radio so to sweeten the deal I’m giving away two awesome prizes! I’ll draw two names at random from everyone who calls in and leaves a voicemail.

Prize #1: A Spoonflower Welcome Pack which include $35 in Spoondollar credit for the recipient to spend on Spoonflower, a Spoonflower Sample Pack containing a sample of each fabric printed with colorful marketplace designs, and a copy of The Spoonflower Handbook: A DIY Guide to Designing Fabric, Wallpaper & Gift Wrap with 30+ Projects. The total value of this prize is $60.

Prize #2: From Chronicle Books, two Go-To Notebooks with Mohawk paper. The only notebook you’ll ever need, the Go-To Notebook was designed by creatives for creatives. Made with the highest quality materials and designed with productivity in mind, features include superfine paper by Mohaw, project planning/tracking pages, a pocket for storage, a silk ribbon marker, lay flat binding, and a tactile cloth case. You’ll get one two beautiful notebooks to use and enjoy!

Contributions open today and I’ll take as many as I can between now and December 7.

Then I’ll edit them together to create one incredible podcast full of awesome recommendations from all of you!  Please note that I may not be able to use every submission. The show will air on Monday, December 17.

Please don’t be nervous! Just go for it. I’m so excited to hear from you!
