Today is my 35th birthday. So far, I've had a nice day. Roxanne and Stella gave me a big stack of of handmade cards this morning, with plentiful tape and stickers all over them. And Charlie surprised me with a beautiful silver necklace and earrings he bought from an artisan jeweler downtown.
I'm making blueberry cobbler for dessert. We all love blueberry cobbler and it's perfect for an August birthday. Growing up we used to always go out for Maryland crabs on my birthday, but not now that I live in New England.
I got a pedicure this morning. I can still see my feet, but just barely! Nearly six months pregnant now.
I finished the last in a series of six little bird embroidery hoops this morning.
These will go to Three Graces Gallery in New Hampshire for the Teeny Tiny Art Show opening in September. It's always a great show, with lots of really affordable original artwork.
Should I make a few more hoops for my own shop?
On a totally different subject, this weekend we visited the home and farm of Colonel James Barrett in Concord, MA. Barrett was Colonel of the Middlesex militia. His home is undergoing major restoration. Historical reenactors had set up for the weekend and it was great fun to watch the Redcoats storm the house, demanding food and drink, and to visit the weaver (our old friend, Lauren) and the blacksmith and to watch the muskets being fired.
Roxanne came in costume (bought from this Etsy seller) and fit right in. One of her life goals, along with becoming President, is to be a historical reenactor.
Happy birthday! Sounds like a very nice day so far. I love all your little birds and am looking forward to your book coming out. Best wishes to you!

I’m late – but Happy Birthday to you! I think it is good that you are looking ahead and setting some goals for yourself. Pick what you love and what you will have the energy for. That is what really matters.
