goldfish

March 19, 2007

I was at a party on Saturday night and someone mentioned to me that
when there is nothing to do and she is need of an indoor acitivity, she
takes her kids to the pet store to look at the animals.  Why hadn’t I
thought of this before?

We headed over to Pet World in Natick
yesterday afternoon after "naptime" (when nobody actually napped).  I
picked Pet World over Petco (which are both in the same shopping
center) because I figured there would be
more actual pets.  We had a great time. They have a giant parrot that said, "peekaboo," to Roxanne.

And I did some goldfish
research for this guy.

His belly is a piece of a thrifted necktie that reminded me of fish scales.

Very cool I use to have a fish that was that type in real life and its name was Mae West Because of all the fluff and stuff and the way they are shapedand move. Great job I haven’t thought of that pet in over 15 years.
    take care

Abby, your goldfish is gorgeous! So elegant and magical! You absolutely floor me with your work. I can picture a whole school of these hanging in a restaurant or museum.

Really, really great. I saw the thumbnail on flickr and thought it was a real fish.

He looks like the real thing. Cute fish! We do the same thing, my daughter is an animal lover and we go to a local pet store that has cats and dogs and these little half wall rooms where you can play with them. I let them know I’m not buying one, my kids just want to play with them. We have a fun time.

We’re big fish-watchers too. There’s a store downtown that has a koi pond in it, it attracts kids from all around town. And the gardening store has a turtle pond, usually crowded with kids. Until I had a kid, I didn’t realize how many places I could find animals here.
Love the goldfish, especially the cute puffy eyes!

What a perfect outing for an indoor day, and for a softie creating momma! The fish is great – the criss cross pattern of the necktie was a perfect choice.
