fish and bird

May 8, 2006

A few new creatures for the charity auction – this little bird in purple with a scarf around her head

and this bright fish with some pink embroidery

and one more fish in brown and orange is nearly done.

Today is our first day at home without daddy to help out. Things have been surprisingly calm and, well, easy so far. Both my girls are napping at the same time (and I’m about to go join them for at least a few minutes). We made it out at 9:30 this morning to the fabric store (hey, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to go) to buy more polyfill, some embroidery floss, fat quarters (on sale for $1 a piece) and pinking shears. I’m excited about that last item – I’ve been wanting a pair for a long while. I’m ready to cut into something with them, but have yet to pick an appropriate project.

Jessica is getting the package of vintage knitting magazines. I’m so glad they will be used again and, since she doesn’t have a blog, I hope she’ll send me pictures of what she makes.

Roxanne has discovered Beatrix Potter after I picked up a shortened version of Peter Rabbit at the rummage sale this weekend. We are off to the library after nap time today to get some more stories. I think she identifies with Peter’s naugtiness because we just started a little discipline program with her (1-2-3 Magic, if you’re curious). Perhaps I’ll get a chance to take a peek at the crafting books whlie we’re there.

We have been big fans of 123 Magic for years. Works great for us with both kids.
You seem to be doing great with the transition from one child to two. Good work!

Someone in my public speaking class this semester did a speech on 1-2-3 magic along with video clips from a seminar that the Dr. who started it gave. It seemed from what the girl in my class said, that it works really well if it’s done consistently.
And the fish is so cute!

I simply adore that tea towel fabric. It looks terrific with the orange flowers too. Now I just want to know where I can go to bid on these items!
We just watched the 123 Magic video this past weekend and are considering it, but my daughter is 2 and I don’t know if she really will get it yet. I hope that it works for you. It seems pretty manageable.
