Fabric Bird

Fabric Bird

Fabric Bird 2

Fabric bird 3

It's been over a year since I made a bird. Late last week someone ordered a custom bird as a Christmas gift. I took out the wire and wire cutters, and the floral tape, for the first time in so long and made this little purple wren. It was like revisiting a former version of myself. I'm mailing this bird to London today.

What a lovely gift! It makes me think of spring, which is a welcome thought during this gloomy Ohio day. Well done, Abby!

This is a lovely example of the short blog post idea you wrote about yesterday. thanks for making that visual. Very nice. The bird is great.

Totally, Debbie! When I wrote yesterday’s post I realized that I haven’t written a short post just showing new work in a long time. So here we are!

Very nice! I am a graphite/watercolor artist, and upon occasion, I get commissions. As I do not promote myself, it can be years between “jobs.” When the project is finished, I often ask myself, “Why am I not doing this regularly?” This time I promised myself that I would paint more often. So far, I have! It feels great!

Thank you so much! There were several years (2007-2010) when I only made birds. 100’s and 100’s of birds. And then I stopped. It’s good to return every now and then.

Your birds are still my favourite things you make – I’ve used this pattern from your book several times in various forms and it’s lovely. Very jealous of your neat machine stitching though – mine wavers….

I taught a class on this pattern when my book first came out and it was truly a great experience to see everyone’s birds come to life. I’m so glad you like the pattern, too!

You’re welcome, Kim! Yes, it’s pretty cool how global things are. I always enjoy seeing where my pattern sales come from. It’s so diverse!
