Coming Soon: An Artful Bird Giveaway!

January 21, 2011

Artful bird cover
I have had a thrilling week receiveding emails from people all over the country who have received my book from their Amazon pre-order.  And next week, The Artful Bird: Feathered Friends to Make and Sew, officially debuts in bookstores everywhere.

Oh my.  What a wonderful feeling!  Many years of experimentation and exploration of fabric bird-making went into this book.  I loved writing it, I loved making all the samples for the 16 projects that appear in it, I loved interviewing the four other fabric bird makers whose work I featured in the gallery section.  (In case you're curious, they are Ann Wood, Abigail Brown, Tamar Mogendorff and Jennifer Muskopf). And I hope you will love it, too. I hope you'll make some wonderful birds with it!

In honor of the book's release, and to kick off the blog tour (there is an awesome tour lined up!), I am going to be doing a giveaway on Valentine's Day.  I'm preparing a special Artful Bird package of goodies!

The package will include:

-a copy of the book

-a yard of bird-themed fabric sent to me by the beautiful shop, Aunt Bea's Fabric (Thank you, Aunt Bea's! I had so much fun picking the fabrics for the giveaway.  Go check out their online shop!  It's beautiful.)

-a pair of my favorite hemostats perfect for turning wings and stuffing beaks

…and a bird!   I will make a special, one-of-a-kind wren with some of this fabric just for you!

Come on by on February 14 to enter.  And in the meantime, happy bird making!

I adore your birds! I would like to be considered for your generosity because I sure could use a cheer-me-up. Turned lots of, many, geriatric years old on February 6th and since hubby was sick, I cooked the dinner, waited on him and did laundry. Call that a birthday? LOL I want so much to make one of your birds. Either way, much success with your book – you deserve it.

    Hi Catherine,
Well, the local hospital is probably a good place to get them for free, especially is you happen to know a doctor personally. They come in suture kits and get thrown away everyday! But if not, I would just do a Google search for doll making supplies and you’ll find them! Good luck!
