but why?

July 29, 2009

DSC_0010

I've been saving the little tabs from milk and bags of bread for two years.  My collection is rather large and all I know is that I just really like these things.  They're pretty and they have a nice shape. I know there is something I'm supposed to do with them, but I just don't know what yet. Any ideas?

Seems like they could be used in your assemblages, as they look very much like bits and pieces birds might collect!

Crazy! I’ve been saving them for about the same amount of time and plan to make something with them. What? I don’t know yet!

all I know is that it brought back memories of fifth grade and my very “curious” collection of jar and jars filled with eraser shavings…..

The square tabs remind me of scales (or feathers) and the long tabs look like plumes!

Hmmm…. The milk tabs, I have no idea. And I know you’re not a spinner (yet) but the bread tabs are very useful for attaching to oddments of yarn or knitting. You can scribble fiber content, lest you forget, or the needle size you used to swatch….

Oh how about a milk tab hedgehog? I think it could be wonderful!

could you mail me a few? my husband throws them out as soon as he opens a new loaf of bread and then ties the bag shut. i hate this! i much prefer the plasticky thing.

Those bag clips have both bird foot (parrots have two toes forward and two back, and blue- footed boobies don’t need suede shoes;) and, the clips may be individually trimmed to gradually smaller sizes and fused (plexiglass solvent, or etc.) together and filed/ sanded, etc, into a parrot’s beak.
The loopy bottle tabs could look scale-like
(so can feathers, Big bird legs… Owl eyes seem like a natural or maybe a night-owl with earrings:)
