bird in grays

March 27, 2007

Dscn0002

This was so much fun. To create a bird entirely from gray fabrics I dyed myself.  The contrasting textures of different grades of linen and muslin. The different shades of gray each one became when immersed for a short time in black dye.  Combining them together to create this inquisitive little fellow.  Sheer pleasure for me.

I’ve always dreamed of working with yarn I’ve spun/dyed myself, I think it’s wonderful that you’ve made a bird out of your own fabrics! And such a cutie!

Wow, that is so beautiful. The grays are lovely, and I love how its little head cocks up a bit like he or she is listening for something.

Love it! Especially how his little head is slightly tilted on one side 🙂

Gorgeous! I love the contrasting strips of grey on the belly. Very cute.

I love the patchwork quality of this one, and knowing that you dyed the fabric yourself makes him all the more special.
