My dear friend, Stacey, from Fresh Stitches is going to have a baby soon. Stacey and I met on Twitter a few years ago and quickly became friends. We both design stuffed animals (hers are crochet and mine are sewn) and we’re both interested in online business.
Stacey came to stay with my family a few years ago and we became real life friends. We Skype often and I’ve learned so much from Stacey over the years that we’ve been friends. Her confident philosophy on how she lives her life has helped me to become more confident in my own philosophy of how I live mine.
Stacey and her husband, Tim, are expecting a little girl in January. As a minimalist, Stacey really didn’t want to fill their house with lots of baby equipment that they would only use for a few months and don’t really need anyway. I’ve been a mom for a decade now and I totally agree. Babies need very little in the way of stuff. Mostly they just need your love. But when you’re not right there to comfort them, it helps if they have a lovey to hug and cuddle and soothe themselves.
So over this holiday weekend I made Stacey and Tim’s soon-to-be born daughter a lion lovey. This is one of the four designs in my new Lovey Dovey set (a lamb, mouse, and monkey are the others) and I think it makes such a sweet baby gift.
I found this tie dye fleece at Joann’s and I love it for lions. All the features on this guy are embroidered so that they’re safe for babies and you can put this lovey in the washing machine with no problem.
Stacey and Tim – I wish you all the very best as you become parents. And baby girl, how lucky you are to have Stacey as a mommy!
Such an adorable lion and you’re right, the fabric is perfect!
Precious!
aww he’s so adorable and snuggly!
i love that you go the extra mile with the tie dyed fabric and the multicolored thread you used on his nose— he’s just adorable 🙂

Thanks, Kim.
So cute! Just love that fabric with that lion. Some day my noses will be nice and even like yours. That satin stitch just is the death of me. 🙂 <3 your patterns and blog Abby.
You’ve inspired me to make a satin stitch video, Lauren! Look for it on Wednesday 🙂
Love it! That is just about the cutest thing ever!
Thank you, Stefanie!
What a gorgeous gift!
Thanks, Theresa.
