I can't commit to starting a big sewing project right now. Even if I could finish it, psychologically it just isn't going to happen. Lots of little projects are coming instead.

Walking around in town this past week has been an interesting experience. Pregnancy in general seems to garner a lot of public comment, but the end of pregnancy especially.
This week I was at first in what I would call the public anticipation phase. Other people would say things like, "You must be so excited to meet this baby!" and "Good luck if I don't see you!".
Then the due date came and went and I entered the public repulsion stage. When people who asked, "When are you due?" were told that I was due yesterday, or the day before, I would watch them back away a few steps, as if to say, "Don't let your water break on me!" or "I'm afraid to jostle you and make the baby come out!".
I'm now officially in what I would term the public pity stage. Walking Roxanne to school, several people said, "Oh Abby, I hope I don't see you tomorrow!" and just generally had a look on their face like "I'm so sorry this is going on so long!" and "You must be terribly uncomfortable!".
It's been a funny feeling. If any of your babies were late, maybe you can relate?
My baby isn’t late. . . I’m due the 13th but being induced on Monday. I feel like I’m overdue because I’ve been expecting this baby boy for weeks now. Though I know the end is in site, I really feel like it’s forever away.
I’m being induced because I have gestational diabetes. My first 2 came on their own 10 days early and I was induced 10 days early last time. So I literally am going through my longest pregnancy ever. I’m worried about how big this baby is going to be, my last one was 9lbs. 6oz!
You seem to have your spirits up better than me, I hope you go soon. I’d love to go on my own before Monday!
Do you have an induction date?
I am being induced on Monday, too, because I also have gestational diabetes. They said I can't go past 41 weeks. Good luck to you!

Well I just envy you…in lots of ways. No pity here.
I think I’ve told you before that both of my girls were 12 days late. With the first one, my mom called more and more frequently as my due date came and went. She’d always have some reason for calling, but she really just wanted to know if there was any news. . . as if I would forget to tell her that we had the baby!
Luckily, I was never very big or uncomfortable. Even when I was past due, people usually thought that i was only 4 months pregnant. They were both only 6 lbs 7 oz when they came out, so they must have needed that extra time.
Hope everything goes well. You seem to have remarkable sangfroid about the whole thing.
My first was a full two weeks late before finally being induced. I can relate! Enjoy these last few/several days of anticipation if you can!
yes, yes, only 4 days late, but the doctor thought she was going to come early at 36 weeks, so it felt like she was VERY late. it’s no fun after a few days.
if it’s more than a week, I say, it’s not late, it’s a wrong due date! :}

Annabelle was nearly two weeks “late,” and I can totally relate. But I think you’re handling it much better than I am. I generally sat around my house crying and play Super Mario Brothers. 😉
i was past due…i would answer the phone saying “still pregnant!” – after a week+ the docs “made me” induce. fun! it didn’t take and so i ended up with a c-section! even more fun.
seriously though…the end result – my little bambina – is worth all the proverbial and literal blood, sweat, and tears involved.

um yes….2 1/2 weeks late with both, and I definitely had the eye popping reactions when people were told I was due 2 weeks back.

My first son was 8 days past due and I can COMPLETELY relate. At first, I had fun telling people I was due 3 days before. It was funny to see their expressions. But, after a few more days, I didn’t even want to leave the house because I was tired of hearing what people had to say! Personally, I was okay with him being overdue, it was other people’s comments that were getting to me. I even stopped answering the phone. Now my second son came 8 days before his due date, that was a whole different experience!
that baby isn’t late. It still needs to cook. 🙂 Sometimes children don’t adhere to the 40 week recipe, and sometimes doctors get the incept date wrong. Your baby will come when it is ready. Both my treasures were exactly six days ‘late’ and I had to keep shooing away the doctor. No worries! As I always said, there is not time when the baby will be easier to care for than when it is inside you. Enjoy.
My first took 43 weeks, my second 42 weeks; it just takes my family longer to cook! Neither one was over 8lbs, either. People didn’t really comment much, definitely no squeamish remarks, but I did stop answering the phone once I was at 41 weeks with my first. I did have people try to help me get the baby to come, especially massage therapists 🙂
I wanted to make a You Tube PSA called, “Due Date Schmuu Date.” Think I remember reading in Henci Goer’s book that on average, babies are born 7 days past their due date. I was ok with being late, but got nervous when all my providers and doula etc. kept asking if I’d tried xyz. Crazy.
